Should we buy into this No Brainer deal or should we just stick to the Cakewalk eq, limiter and compresser? What are some advantages of using a 3rd party bundle like this one?

Must have done something stupido when ordering,
it says my order will be shipped in about three weeks time!
Coming by snail-mail.
I would much prefer receiving a serialnumber
and an address to download from.

Oh well, must have overlooked a check-box or something.

Rasmus,

Same for me. Then I opened my e-mails this morning (1 day after ordering and paying) and there was the download link and instructions on how to install.

Be patient and check your e-mails.

Cheers,
Jerry

the advantage of using a bundle like this is that you can use it in other VST-hosted applications and that you get a new set of sound shaping tools :)

however.. i really love the concept of pro channel and how it's taken my workflow to a whole new level. i just want to see what happens next in the development of this awesome feature, before i start buying 3rd party things without prochannel support again.

some (most?) people may think that excluding these kinds of plugins limits me. it's only when it comes to dynamics and eq i think like this, though.

and also; pro channel is relativly new and i really think (hope) cakewalk's got big plans for this one

and finally.. it was mentioned that this same deal was a "no brainer" a year ago (or was it a few years?) too..  if PC dies and nothing more happens I will have no problem waiting until next "no brainer" comes around. Because it will, eventually. THAT is a "no brainer", if anything..

Loptec,

My experience has been with Audiomidi....that once the "No Brainer" deal is gone...it's GONE....FOREVER....

I know someone posted on here that this was available a year ago...but I have no recollection of seeing
it, or being notified about it.....so I honestly can't speak to the accuracy of this claim..

For me...Getting a decent Neve EQ and Compressor/Limiter emulation for $20 IS a NO BRAINER.

I, too, am a big fan of the Pro Channel...but I'm not gong to rest on my laurels and wait for "Whatever" Cake may have to offer...

I use X1 exclusively....but having more options for my mixing is always a good thing as each "plug" offers something...and
the most important thing is how it affects the sound and outcome of the final mix...

A CADA SU PROPIO....to each his own...but $20 for a $150 set of plugins seems like a reasonable thing to invest in...
even if its rarely used....just to have "options"

but...that's just my opinion...and you know what they say about that....

Hi Larry

The Nomad Factory British Bundle has definitely been offered as a No-Brainer by Audio Midi before - I purchased the bundle for $30 in March 2010.

Considering just how good these plugs are - I thought $30 was an absolute steal - so for 20 bucks it really is a bargain.

Mind you, I did recently get a wonderful deal from Don't Crack by virtue of owning the British Bundle - anyone with a registered Nomad Factory plug-in qualified to purchase the full version of Nomad Factory's Integral Studio Pack III for just $99. Now that was a complete no brainer! I mean to say, the wonderful Magnetic II that comes in that pack was worth more than $99 on its own.

And as I already owned the two British plugs which are part of the Studio Pack, they let me transfer the licenses for those two plugs so a friend of mine could download them instead - that's pretty cool for a business to allow that.

Very Kewl Steve...

I'm just saying that "Why take the chance?"

I know that  the vast majority of thier NO BRAINER deals are usually SOLD OUT and GONE FOREVER....

That does sound like a NO BRAINER on the mixpack.....wish I could have gotten in on that...

And KUDOS to Nomad Factory for allowing you to do that...most companies
are pretty selfish in that area...with the NO WE WANT YOUR MONEY attitude....

That's one of the reasons I'd be happy to do business with them again Larry. I am a pretty loyal customer to companies that look after and respect the people who spend their money with them. As you say, sadly that's a bit of a rarity in this day and age.

Incidentally, you can see all the previous No-Brainers from Audio-Midi HERE. LOL, I've purchased a few of those in the past aside from the British Bundle - Miroslav Classic, PSP Nitro and (the awesome) Steven Slate Drums EX.

I got it a year ago under the no brainer deal too.  They are pretty harsh plugs and I never use them.  Their mowtown EQ is vastly superior and pretty much all compressers I have (waves, crysonic, t-racks and Sonar beat the British one.

There is nothing harsh about the Nomad British Bundle. They are after all modeled on a classic Neve compressor and EQ and really Neve has never produced anything harsh in his life. The model is good and they sound great.

If you use them correctly then you will get a great sound out of them but like anything if you use them poorly then really all bets are off then it may be possible to produce unlikable results. But that applies to anything really.

i have no doubt this is a great deal.

but the competition between plugin developers today is massive and most of them struggle
to make the very best simulations of vintage gear, since this is what most consumers want today.

we, as consumers, are very picky with what we want and this puts even higher preassure
on developers to make better and better sounding plugins all the time.

the market of nice sounding plugins is growing fast and this also forces the companies to give
us "no brainer" deals now and then to stay on top and (in the long run) survive.

i have all respect for people that bought this no brainer, cuz i'm sure the plugins sound great.
but please don't describe this as a "once in a lifetime opportunity", cuz it's not. :)

     edit:
...and just to be crystal clear:
this no brainer deal, on this specific bundle, may or may not be gone forever after this..
ok. fine, let it be.. i'll just buy tomorrows no brainer instead with even better sounding plugins.

And I can say....I'm happy I got it...especially at this price point...

The CHEAPEST I've seen it for has been $119.00  so that's about

85 percent savings.....that's a really good deal in my book...

1-4 days I think was the norm . Most get it in a day and lots get it fairly sharpish. After a day, I would always drop them an email and that usually speeds it up. Some do drop through the net unfortunately.
