Here is a demo: (note there are 2 clips 1 and 2 on that one link) http://soundcloud.com/tock-1/sets/bass-x1-vs-british-bundle The British Bundle bass presets gave my bass a harsh/teeth grating high end that sounds NOTHING like a Neve. Not that I used one, but I can bet it does not sound that cold. You can compare a bass preset on the X1 vocal strip. No other processing, just the X1 bass preset and I tried to match the volume (of the braindead Nomad preset that is WAY too loud). It's not a musical plugin. IMO it sets my teeth on edge, and no amount of tweaking can mellow it out without losing key freq's. All my opinion of course. But it;s the last plugin I turn too. And it's not a coincidence this is the second time in a year they have blowout prices on it. Jeff Evans There is nothing harsh about the Nomad British Bundle. They are after all modeled on a classic Neve compressor and EQ and really Neve has never produced anything harsh in his life. The model is good and they sound great. If you use them correctly then you will get a great sound out of them but like anything if you use them poorly then really all bets are off then it may be possible to produce unlikable results. But that applies to anything really.

I got mine this afternoon. A bit of a nightmare downloading and installing it ( but I'm a newbie). After a quick try of the presets, It sounds promising to me. I'm hoping it will sound good for final mix and master, I'll have to read up on it a bit and find the sweet spots but, for $20 it seems like a good move so far. If any of you have any tips feel free to enlighten me.

Mine came today and I registered (Authorized?) no problem but then I ran the Software Activation Tool and can't find the licence file thru it. It's a very elaborate and confusing setup process. I'll have to call tomorrow and get them to walk me thru.

M_Glenn_M Now where the heck is it? I set up Sonar to look for VST's on startup. I looked in Audio Fx in both the Producer Fx and All plugins. What is it called? "The British Bundle?" They are where you put them Glenn! I made a Nomad Factory folder inside my Cakewalk VST folder to keep them together and placed the .dll's inside - good housekeeping and all that. Also, when you do find them (or re-install them) make sure you direct the VST scan to their location if it isn't in one of your destination folders. Also make certain that you aren't scanning the 64bit versions into X1 32bit because they won't show up. If you want to search for them, the two British Bundle plug-ins are called: British MCL-2269 and British NEQ-1972 Hope that helps.

Oh boy. I was so focused on just stumbling thru the registration, authorization and licencing process (took me 4 tries) that I didn't see any time that they said "now Glenn, pay attention..where would you like the VST to go" Thanks for the names at least, I can search my several hard drives for those.

Took me three tries. My main problem was Windows wouldn't open the .auth file. I made the change in control panel that Nomad says windows users has to make but, It made no difference. I finally had to drag and drop the .auth file. Also on my second re-install...when installing the program, it will default to c:\\programs/steinburg/vst or something like that. Change steinburg to Cakewalk. Now all is well, live and learn.

I still call my third party Vst folder 'Steinberg'. It made it so much easier in the old days as many defaulted there anyway. Doesn't matter so much nowadays as most give a 'browse' option right at the outset.

I appreciate the tip but am going to avoid this no-brainer deal. Not only do I already have enough plugs than I know what to do with, but I figure that if I avoid 5 no-brainer deals on items I previously had no interest in buying, then I can make the brainer deal on the item I wanted but couldn't afford.

What genre or styles of music would work best with this bundle? How does the EQ compare to X1's very own EQ? Will using either their Compresser or Equalizer make my music sound like it's coming from the 60's or 70's since it's modeled after vintage gear?

Hi skylightron no definitely not. If your mix is modern sounding etc this bundle won't change that at all. Just think of it as nice EQ and compressor tools over your mix. Hi thefyn Firstly I don't think it is designed as a track device but rather a buss type device. But still that should not stop one from using it that way. How about posting up on your Soundcloud the raw unprocessed bass track. Make it a wave file (full res) and make it downloadable. I will have a go at downloading it, applying the EQ and compressor to it and then I can upload it again to my Soundcloud for you to check out. I am confident I can get a good sound happening on your bass part.

I'm with Various on this. I think i would rather skip 5 or so of these no-brainers and then put serious thought into something i actually want. I honestly had not considered buying this plugin prior to this sale, and making it cheap doesn't change that. If the sole criteria for obtaining a plugin is price, i would own damn near every freeware product in existence. maybe it's just me, but i find when i make these snap purchases just because it was dangled cheaply in front of me , i typically spend a week or two trying to make myself like it by forcing it into projects that were just fine or I take a listen and uninstall it. Rarely do these kinds of purchases become regularly used items for me unless it was something i already wanted.
