This is nice musically and the lyrics I found quite interesting (being a Biblicist), and the vox is great. Very nice mix and a great sound on the instrumentation. Nice one for sure.

Chas, it's always interesting to hear something new from you.  This sounds very polished to me, and I love the clever lyrics.  I'll bet this would make a terrific video.  Keep up the good work, and may you have a happy, healthy, and creative new year!

I liked this a lot, (I think you may have a hit on your hands).
I would've liked the guitar ducked, or panned, or something'd, a little more while the vocals are happening and a little more emphasis/work on the hook.
But I'm only saying that 'cause I think it's a great song, and I wish I was that clever.
Great drum mix, really nice guitar work.

speedtom, thanks a lot for your comments. Glad you liked Money. Don't know that I have a sequel in me, though.

sven450, thanks for the listen and your comments. The drums are Scott Rockenfield, - "Big Rock Drums."

notnat, appreciate the listen and your comments.

Tim, thanks for listening and your comments. Borrowed a couple of phrases for that song.

rebel1007, a hit would be nice but, considering the subject matter, don't think it is very commercial. During the mix and master I actually thought the vocal was too loud. And I thought of ducking the guitars as well. Actually wrestled with that mix for awhile. Thanks for listening and for your suggestions. Glad you liked the song.

Not exactly my genre preference at first, but it was by the end of the song! I can certainly appreciate your talents in this little gem. The mix sounded great to me also. I might classify this one as heavy metal - blues.

Chaz, I think you have this type of guitar music down well. I like your vocal. I think the vocals would really shine if you could hold out some notes for longer. It would showcase the vocals more.Great job!

Re: Nobody Knows - Original 2014/01/16 08:14:10 (permalink)
I really like this song.

One thing I'd change in the mix is I'd bring the vocals forward just a tad. I had a hard time making some of them out. Of course, my hearing is a bit dicey, so that may not apply to anyone else. It's just that I was really getting into the lyrics and they kept getting away from me, if you know what I mean.
One other thing: there wasn't a lot of build in the song overall. I just noticed this peripherally because, as I said, I was getting into the lyrics. Also, I've only recently found out that songs are supposed to build--at least for certain types of music--so maybe it doesn't even matter.

Some other things:
- Fool-osophers: Gotta love it even if it wasn't intentional!
- Nice, hot guitars. One of these days, I'm going to learn how to do that smooth, hot sort-of overdrive all you guys seem to have down pat. I've been trying off and on since 1976 and have NEVER got the hang of it. (if you or anyone else wants to pass along a tip or two, I'm all ears)
- You've got a great voice and I really like the overall vox treatment.

Overall, a good listen.

Bert, thanks for listening and your comments.

Ron, I thought the vocals were a little hot, maybe not. Don't like them to be too out front. Seem to not be part of the song if they're too loud (IMO).  I tried to have dynamics in the song, maybe not enough, though. Foolosophers? Got that from someone down the line (Blackie Sherrod, I think). Thanks for listening and your comments.
