All of them, I guess. Most of mine seem to be of the classic sort although I do have a few from some more local bands that have special numbered editions involved...

Seriously Mike: I enjoy the eco-packs, which I think is what you're describing on your second option.
But I like 'em all, except some of the wallets where it seems difficult to get the CD booklet in/out without messing it up or tearing the wallet.

I'd like to see them just like the old records. Nice cardboard cover/artwork -sleeve for the disc. I like the CD's that look like vinyl too. They could do the colored vinyl, picture disc....etc. Yep, packaged just like the records I grew up with. Would take less room and less plastic. Thought I should add....my CD's don't leave the house. I burn copies to haul around in the vehicles and they're either in a holder in the car/truck or a carrying case /no cover needed. So wearing out cardboard isn't an issue. They are taken care of as I did with my LP's.

Thanks everyone!!!
I used to think I was 100% sure that I preferred the traditional jewel pack. I liked the "archival" storage idea and the easy to read spine label.
I think lately I have finally grown to appreciate the record sleeve envelopes as easy to carry and fun to look at.
I'm not sure what I prefer now.

I prefer the plastic jewel cases as well, but NOT the slimline ones. they don't fit correctly in the CD holders.

I prefer jewel cases, too. Some of the cardboard Eco cases--like the old LP packaging--can wear out if you don't take exceptional measures to protect them. At, least you can replace a broken jewel case.

Coincidence that you just brought this up because I was contemplating this last night. I just got the new Eric Johnson and K.D. Lang CD's and they both are using the cardboard casing. I actually thought this to be a better format than the old plastic casing. First off, I was able to open each one in about 5-seconds. Just cut-through the plastic wrapper and I was in. I use to dread opening the plastic casings because after getting through the wrapper, you then had to fight with the sticky tape crap (yea, I know there are more important things in the world to complain about). And secondly, the cardboard takes up less storage space.
What I did not like about the cardboard is the industry apparently hasn't agreed on a size standard as both of these casings are of different dimensions. The depth is the same, but the heights are different. Oh well, I guess I prefer the cardboard packaging at the moment.

Eco schmeeko, give me the old-style fat jewel cases. You can stand them on end, you can read their labels. They are more durable, and if broken can be easily replaced. They can re-purposed if you lose the CD.
Distributors' implementation of cardboard packaging has nothing to do with being "green" or "eco-friendly". That's a load of crap that would only make sense if CDs were routinely discarded in the trash, which they are not. Paper packaging is all about saving a nickel, as if the 95% profit margin wasn't adequate.
 All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

6-panel digi-pak please. Hate jewel cases, they look cheap, feel cheap, get scratched, cracked & broken. Digi-paks are the nearest I can get a gatefold sleeve album, I have Kate Bush's 'Aerial' & Stings 'If On a Winters Night' in that format, they look superb.

I prefer the thin Jewel Cases. After I dump em into ITunes, the CD goes into storage/big Tote and the case better protects it with the throwing around over time they receive.

Well... I hate the fact that the plastic cases have a tendency to crack and I have to replace them when this happens, which I guess is better than Vinyl which had a tendency to crack before the cover did with LP's.
Also, I really like the fact that even though the album may be scratched beyond listening, you can still pin up the original LP cover to your wall. ( Just don't do this with your original Beatles Album covers ).
That being said, I guess I wish we could get all the visual benefits of an original Album sleeve with all the Sonic benefits of a CD - however best this is packaged ... probably Jewel Cases.

Cardboard is about making sense.
Easy to open. Easy to stand on end and takes less space.
Protects the disc. Easy to get disc. - slide it out, no buttons needed. No reason
to be bending or prying on the disc. No case lock flaps. No sticky security tape, nothing to break.
Disc isn't found sliding around and scratched because the holder broke.
Cardboard is smart.
Plastic... a stupid hassle all around.

Maybe a nice stainless steel case with combination lock/time lock is in order. Placemats that hold CD's...? Coaster CD covers ? Maybe a little plug for the center with a string and one could make CD mobiles....should we really be limited to cardboard and plastic??

Easy to see how it wouldn't matter to some and how it could matter very much to others.
If I have a choice I go for the deluxe. Seriously.
Audio Fidelity Gold CD's is a good example. I don't buy them for the case. I buy them because they are limited numbered editions. Not only do I get the music but they have
high resale value. Don't believe me? They just retired Bad Co. (greatest hits). It's already
worth recording and dumping the original. Of course one doesn't really consider what others may think when they spend their money.
As somewhat of a music collector I do realize that just like so many other products the
package that it comes in can many times be worth more than the item and I know that
doesn't mean nothing to many people...but it does to some.

I prefer the traditional plastic case with removable booklet rather than multi-page foldout extensions to the package ... but for a reason that you might not expect. I have for years now added CDs to my collection without needing to add storage space (which has been constantly 95% full). The trick is to repackage the CD, booklet and back printing into a plastic sleeve package (google "jazz loft" for the source I use to order the sleeves). The resultant width is about one quarter of the original. New forms of CD packaging that prevent me doing that are a pain because they'll eventually crowd me out (if I and/or the CD format last long enough).
I have a pretty massive number of CDs (mostly "classical" stuff) and one entire wall of my living room is dedicated to CD storage. Adding shelf space really isn't an option.

+1 for the standard jewel case with 4 panel insert. At least they do help protect the CD better than cardboard, and I wholeheartedly agree with Bitflipper about the "Eco-pak" being a money saving scam passed off as a "green' initiative.

 I'm assuming you're talking about CD cases for distributing your music... not much preference there, as I do so little of that. What I do use for most all purposes is the case above. I ran across this style several years ago, and haven't used much else since. They're very durable under many less-than-favorable conditions and the price is right: US$17 per hundred.
