OT - Dim Pro and sample rates
Apologies for posting this here, but I thought it worth mentioning.
I was toying with moving from 44.1 k to 48 k for all future projects, and happened to notice that after I set my audio interface settings to 48 k, that every time I fired up Dim Pro outside of Sonar, it would change my audio interface sample rate back to 44.1 - which was REALLY aggravating me to no end.
While I realize that most of the sample libraries are out there using 44.1 samples, I wanted to track audio in Sonar at 48/24, to match industry standards for film and DVD audio.
The Dim Pro hijacking of my audio interface does not affect Sonar, but did piss me off.
Anyways, I ended up searching around for any ways to modify the sample rate that is used by the stand-alone Dim Pro, and came across this forum thread:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/Dimension-Pro-Rapture-Question-m2765889.aspx I mention it here, because up until now I had no idea that Dim Pro was even doing that sample rate change to my audio interface, and I thought that there might be some folks here in THIS forum that might choose to use the function keys, as noted in the thread link above, to change Dim Pro's stand-alone sample rate to some value other than 44.1, if desired.
I have BTW gone ahead and switched over to permanently using 48 k as my sample rate for all future projects, in case anyone wants me to score any movies.........
PLEASE nobody turn this thread into a math contest or political forum for the virtues or lack thereof in using either 44.1 k or 48 k as a sample rate. And I do not care if your grandmother's dog can hear the difference between the two. I just thought this 'bit' of knowledge might help someone else who did not know Dim Pro did that.
