Off today!

woo hoo!  a much needed day off!

but I have a headache and I have work around the house I need to do (remodelling which wasn't finished by the teenager who decided he wasn't going to do any more).

so it doesn't look like I'll get much music work done today.

Good news (sort of) for you Reece.

Bad news: Today would be my day off, but we have a critical week once a month. This is it. All hands are required.
Good news: I'll take Monday off instead.

I thought you were "off" every day.  Oh, wait--that's me--and it has nothing to do with work.

Hope you get a lot done Beag. I almost did the same thing today and decided against it because my co-worker decided to take today off and I didn't want to stick them here.

we work 9/80, so every other friday is my "normal" day off.  we also have flex time, tho, so a lot of times I end up working on my friday off to make up time that I took off during the week.  today I decided to take my day.

I used to work a 9/80 a few years ago.  It was OK, except that we had every other Monday.  I think we all would have would have liked it better if we had Fridays.  It was OK, if you were into Monday Night Football--I was on second shift at the time.  There was some flex--but not a lot.

Yeah, we had that for a short while--again it was always Mondays off, because we're manufacturing and a lot of the stuff got shopped on Fridays.  It was nice having the same day off every week and not having to figure out which day we were not working to plan stuff.

I also did three twelve-hour days.  Unfortunately, they were Friday-Sunday.  It was great for going to school and getting stuff done, but I never got to see any friends because they were all at work when I was home.  I also took a day to recover, so it was like working four days.

yeah, come to think of it I used to work 4-12 hour NIGHT shift Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon when I was a night shift supervisor. (yes, 48 hour work week - but with OT)

the place I worked 4-10's however had 2 shifts, 1/2 of us had Friday off and the other 1/2 had Monday off.  I got to choose since I was just an intern!

I once knew a Hans who worked with a wrecking ball they nicknamed "The Whopper".  I asked him how many people were on his team.  He, of course, said there were two.  The other guy was also named Hans.

    Re:Off today! 2011/06/10 18:53:13 (permalink)
I used to work a 4/10 schedule at a company where I had Wednesday off.  At first I was bummed that I wasn't senior enough to have a day that pads a weekend, but I came to realize that I really liked working two days, take a day off, work two more, take two days off.

Now?  Now I only work on days that end in "Y" and usually from somewhere around 7:30am until who knows when.  Since I can work from home and have no money to do anything else at the moment, it's not unusual (cue Tom Jones) for me to just keep working until 1:30am or even 3am like I did last night.

The 15.4 posts that I average per day on these forums ARE my breaks - *sigh*

As soon as we get this first big project delivered we'll get a good chunk of cash to live on, but it's running late (mostly due to not being able to get parts from Japan thanks to the earthquake and tsunami) so we have to hold on a bit longer!

Whenever I DO take a day off, the schedule goes something like this:  sleep in late, get a drink of water, go back and take a nap, get up for some lunch before resting a bit, then an afternoon nap followed by dinner and snoozing in front of the TV.  Other days aren't as exciting.

Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!
