It looks like the lower left hand corner of the tweeter cone is wet. Is that where it started?

Craig the yellow box is the area that I first touched. If I touched anywhere in that area to the cone it would react as the rest has...same for any area shown that isn't black

Even the control buttons are doing it!  I think they look better lol. They are small and ones finger won't slide off...that much is certain.

I saw something..not sure what-don't remember..and touched it. That's when I new
it was having a reaction.

The tweeter "cone" is part of the panel/baffle. So is the part I marked on the woofer area.

They're 32.5lbs ea. UPS will box them up Monday to ship. Est. cost is @ $150.00 min. for both.

Well I taped personal info on each cabinet and wrapped them in cellaphane.
My wife took them to the UPS shipping to have them boxed and sent.

She called to let me know that she took pictures with the store employees to show
the condition ( no scratches..etc.) and they pulled the cellaphane back to get good
photos of the speakers and they all FREAKED!
I guess that gummy goo and cellaphane really liked each other LOL. Well it's JBL's
gunk and I'll see how they deal with it.

Mike I almost said screw 'em and saved myself 140. on the shipping and
built the fronts myself out of some beautiful hardwood....but I couldn't
help myself...just had to let them deal with the crap.
They have their choice....they can make them right or they can try to charge me
and have me telling their story all over Google search.
Either way they will be fixed.
I'm very confident that I can build a much, much better speaker cabinet than them...
they've proven to me that they have some very bad issues to deal with.
I bet they would be beautiful with some flame maple fronts.....and they may before
this is done.

There's no telling what controls and components have been contaminated by now by the creeping goo and what the reaction will be when it stops converting. As well as what health hazards might exist if the goo drys and becomes friable. JBL could be held responsible for the shipping since it's clearly a defective product. I'm sure they're in damage control mode big time.

Craig I'm sure it's much easier to comprehend the condition when one can see and touch it.
There is no "creeping". It is simply the front panels. I do believe the control buttons are of the same junk.

I agree that they should cover all expense to correct the problem. Currently I'm out the shipping cost and don't know if that will be covered.

I'll say that I've always liked JBL and like these speakers very much BUT now that
there is definately an issue with their product they have a chance to shine by doing right or
looking much like this problem. It's their call and I have no problem letting others know
exactly what has happened and how they handle it.

The person we've been communicating with informed us that "they will be evaluated" and they will let us know something then. They said we should know something about one and a half weeks after they receive them. They should receive them by 9-28.

I know that if I had made these...oh I'd be very embarrassed and doing everything I could
to make things right...but that's not usually how others feel by many of my experiences.
We'll see how they feel about that. :)
