Ok violation of forum rules!!

So, I'm confused and I think a few others are.

Bub's upset by a peice of video art that another forum member has posted in the song forum.  Now granted it's not music, but it is video art.

Bub's big gripe is that, it violates TOS (what is TOS and no it's not that!!) because it is supposedly political.

First are we not adult enough to talk about ones beliefs and politics and not get all shouty!!!

Secondly is The Song Forum to narrow a genre now, I mean I have stuff that people would just call sonic noise but some would call art (here we go again).

So should we broaden the song forum to somethin else, or add a new sub forum to include sonic and video art??

And should we be allowed to speak our minds freely down here, not upstairs about politics and belifiefs??

Neb

Ben, I don't feel there's any room on the forums for political discussion. After all, who's to decide what countries politics are going to be discussed. I love to talk about politics and religion but that's what my friends (real people)have to put up with, not the folks here. Keep rocking that new look buddy. You look like Bono's brother Clive, the real genius in the family. Insert big smiley here :)

But thats my point arn't we old enough to have these discussion's without falling into disrepute.  We are on this exciting new journy called the internet where everybody of all persuasions meet.

For the first time in history as human beings we can have a global disscusion about who we want to be, what we want to be, what is art, what is morality.

Because of proportional representational democracy we have given up the right to make morality choice's or that is the meaning of proportional representational democracy.  And we know how this has turned out, were morally bankrupt as well as being properly bankrupt.

The internet and by proxy this forum gives us this right perhaps for the first time in history to make choices about the big questions and relay it to the so called masters.

I still see serfs and peasent's in the school yard across the internet, playing with this great new toy/wepon/majikal device you choose, not understanding that for the first time in history we are truly free.

I think that is a scary thing for most people!

My point is Bub has a problem with The Obama Speach video but surely there is a place for this and other art like this on this forum.

To not be allowed to talk about certain things because it violates forum rules is tantamount to censorship.

How can we in this day and age accept censorship in any form???

Man we and I am talking humanity need to man up or if your a woman, woman up.

This nanny state mentality is what is destroying humanity, is what is driving negativity because it stifles the very debates we need to be having.

Our so called leaders have shown us that they are morally corrupt and untrustworthy and here we have this great collective consciousness giving us the one thing humanity has never had freedom and we go no, I'd prefer the heard mentality.

    Hmm, something to ponder.

P.S The photo was taken at the cinema, they're 3d spec's. I thought I looked very Buddy Holly, I need glasses and I now know I can pull those ones off, hmm double entendre!!!

    Hey Ben,

I wasn't really all that upset about that thread, just stating my opinion on it. Only half paying attention to be honest, I was watching TV and yapping with the wife while reading the forums and responding to some stuff.

The whole point, which you continue to keep missing is, there are rules that Cake puts down that we all need to stick by. Yeah, I've broken rules, we all have, but that thread had absolutely nothing to do with music or art. He posts in the songs forum all the time, he knows where the post should have went originally if he was interested in the slightest bit about sharing his 'artistic' endeavor.

I do have to say it rubs me the wrong way that you are singling me out on this ... I wasn't the only one who commented that the thread was a problem. Go jump AT dude ... he chimed in about it being a TOS violation long before I even saw the thread. Guitarmicah chimed in too ... I don't see any threads started about his opinion of it?

Why does this always happen? Someone will say something, I'll chime in, and I get jumped.

It's just a stupid thread that a few guys commented on and pointed out there was a violation. Leave it at that.

"My point is Bub has a problem with The Obama Speach video but surely there is a place for this and other art like this on this forum."

Ben, take those sun glasses off and lean forward and read your monitor real carefully ....

Dude ... Cakewalk doesn't want that crap on their forum. It's their forum, not yours. This has nothing to do with art, it never did. It's impossible to have a coherent conversation with you bro.

What the hell?

See you have taken it the wrong way, I was using you as an example, yes there were other complaints but rightly or wrongly and I am sorry, used you as an example.

Rules are meant to be broken, I break them all the time and I get away with nine times out of ten, I was in court yesterday for drinking on the street and having an open bottle of liquor.  I was going to pay no fine and I was doing no harm, so why should I have to go to court to get this matter dealt with.

It was a silly rule and I break it because it's a silly rule.

The charge was dissmissed!!! I WIN 10 to Nothing!!!

Sorry if it seemed I was singling you out, I can't mention everyones opinion who thought it was a TOS (sorry nobody still has explained what a TOS is and why I should give a TOS) I singled you out because you were the most vocal and you had put up a track which I thought was great but could be called Avant Garde.  Now your track wasn't a TOS violation but I felt that you needed to understand that the obama speach and your track were both art but there was no room for the obama track but there was for yours.

As for the glasses, they're 3d specs and I look so ugly without glasses, there you go guys you can attack me for my vanity.

Once again Bub do't take it personally, it wasn't meant that way.

    Peace Neb

That crap was first posted in the x1 forum not the songs forum. And moved by cake.

Yes I've broken the TOS I admit.

I just don't like the way "that guy" comes across.

Bub....I remember GG Allen. I'm not sure who I like or dislike more GG or "that guy".

Whatever, it's all opinion. Neither right or wrong. The two sentences above are mine.

I was going to write more. But I just can't find the motivation, it just doesn't matter to me right now.
    But I will say this.

You can't go into someone house and start spouting off whatever you want. This is Cake's house. they make the rules. You have no freedom to express whatever you want here in Cake's house.

I did get jumped on in the SONAr X1 - I believe I was called some kind of moderator troll.  Cool, sticks and stones and all that.  I don't care to discuss politics or religion on a music forum - nor does Cakewalk and they pay for the site.

I refered to the TOS because the post went from something that might have been plug for some TV work and quickly desended into a political discussion about "truth" and was bound to get people riled up.  Now sure enough, we have this bastard thread popping out like Orca's baby and people insulting one another and YELLING.  Sukprise.  And I don't  think anyone could make heads or tails of the arguement(s) thrown out above.  I used to get some entertainment value from such, but it just seems so ... undergraduate these days.  Like the "you mean the earth could be an atom of some giant being ...." pot scene from Animal House.  It is funny on the screen even after a hundred viewings, but just kind of sad in real life.

Well if it was posted in the X1 forum, that is the offending video, then def it should be removed but this is what I am saying there should be somewhere on this forum, where it can sit and belong.

That is all I am saying!!

I mean I have used charlie manson and winston churchil samples in one song (and they preach political messages) in fact I will post it next, just because both of these people are political does that mean I have broken TOS rules.

What about if I do a bob dylan cover and it's starts to talk about politics is that breaking TOS rules.

    Ahh the sliperery slope!!!

No, there shouldn't.  This is a support forum for products by Cakewalk (Roland).

As a bonus they also give us a space where we can showcase our work using their products (Songs forum), a place to ask questions and give general tips and advice on how to get the best out of their (and others) products (Techniques forum) and also a chill out lounge where we can chat and relax and share humourous anecdotes and generally make friends and have a good time (Coffee House).

Nowhere on this entire forum is there a place for discussing politics or religion or other war invoking subjects.  This is a music forum.
There is no argument you can make that can change it, however many multi page posts you make about it.

This is not the place.  Period.

You're quite right in principle. However, given that the posting in question hasn't led to some entrenched political debate, and given that it just seems to be a bit of harmless messing around, the entire premise of this thread is nonsense, really. All I can see is a guy who loves complaining about everything, and a guy who loves starting an argument about everything making a load of fuss about nothing.

I have not seen the thread in question so i can't comment specifically on it.

There are different places to discuss different things on the Cakewalk site and while I think that Ben is onto something with respect to society and what is or isn't allowed, this seems the wrong place and platform to discuss it.

Whether Bens premise for the discussion is to actually start trouble is not something I will pass judgment on. Obviously posting something like that on the X-1 area will get it bumped. Apparently it wasn't deleted, only moved to the correct area.

Cakewalk seems very liberal IMO with respect to what they allow when compared to some others.

While I feel that the place and the methods used are not going to accomplish much in this setting, there is room for discussion in this area.
It won't change a thing though IMO but would make good discussion just the same.

We have all mostly talked about things other than music in the CH forums. Maybe this isn't what was referred to.

Ben does add some interesting perspectives to what is happening.

To not be allowed to talk about certain things because it violates forum rules is tantamount to censorship.

How can we in this day and age accept censorship in any form???

There are thousands of political and/or religious forums on the 'net, go there and be uncensored if you want.

A little history lesson for those that weren't here or those that forgot.

Years ago, original CH turned into a toxic pool of political and religious threads that turned people against either because of the views different people hold on those subjects. Warnings were issued and ignored, and the CH was eliminated from the board.

Some of the members opened thier own forum, where those subjects could be discussed. In time, that forum folded due to the increased toxicity members had towards each other in the discussion of those topics. I know, because I was a member.

That forum split into 2 forums. One without those topics, and one with. The one with those topics recently folded. The other remains.

Anyone can stomp around flailing thier arms and crying injustice, censorship, etc. because they can't talk about what they want to talk about here. There is a reason it's like that. If you can't figure out what that is after reading this post, then there probably isn't  any reasoning with you at all.
