Old Cakewalk Reverb Plugin?
I'm trying to remember the name (soundstage?)... It was way ahead of it's time with room adjustments and positioning elements (player/mics) within the room... I was always pushing for more developement, b ut alas it never came... Instead, ot got dropped... <sigh>... Well... Now we're behind as Eventide has now released T Verb which is Tony Visconti's three microphone technique used with David Bowie on "Heroes" at Hansa Studios, Berlin What up?

Thanks Scott... Yeah, that's it! I know I still have it around and I'm betting I still have it installed! ;-) It was ahead of it's time and I'm hoping that someone has been tinkering with it backstage at Cakewalk and going to surprize us soon! I'd love to checkout the Eventide T Verb, but these days it will be a long wait for cash to do so.... But I look forward to your review! Keni

I love that plugin. I even went so far as to wrap it with a DX to VST wrapper for 64 bit Sonar. I haven't done that for awhile but I would really like CW to reconsider bringing it up to date. No other plugin has the same sound.

Hi. I agree that it was way ahead of its time. IIRC I got them when using SONAR XL 2.2 (or was it PA9?). I even think I have it on a HD somewhere. It would be great to get it updated with "modern technology". All the best.

I don't remember when it came out, but using Scott's link above, you can find it free from cakewalk...
A very special little gadget and nice to see someone (eventide) thought so too!
Cakewalk really should consider bringing this little puppy up to date!

I use that reverb as well, but my all time favorite was fx reverb. I stayed in 32 bit world a while longer just for that plug along with fx chorus. I finally left them behind after hours of tweaking other plugs to get similar results.

I think it would be pretty cool if Cakewalk put together and made available a package of legacy plugins, kind of like publishers of old video games do. I liked the manfully named Amp Sim a lot. I had to dig it out of some old versions and manually register it (it's a COM object) to make it work. It makes a strat just shimmer.

They're still around (old Cakewalk plugins) as I still have many.... I don't really use them anymore as I've found other solutions to my needs over the years. I do my best to run fully 64bit, but if/when I need something from the old 32bit world, I still use it. For those I've used, I have very little trouble other than sometimes having Sonar crash when changing song-loaded. No damage done simply re-start Sonar... But this one, the Soundstage plugin is so unique.... I used to use it often and forgot about it until I saw the Eventide Tverb release notice.... So I'm gonna look for Soundstage as it's probably still installed on my DAW...

The blog is from 2009. The products have been unavailable for some time. While the FX series was made available for free for a period of time, it had to be ordered through the CW store to get a serial number. My guess is the links in the blog point to the products in old store which get redirected to the new store and the products are not in the new store.

I'm surprised. If giving them away for free I'd have thought they'd use an unlocked copy? There has to be one flirting around, eh?

I wonder why? Are they really Cakewalk products or were they rebranded and the 3rd party decided not to support/didn't want the income stream/whatever? I haven't found a plug reverb I like and still use my external verbs. This one looked like it could really have been interesting.

I always had the feeling this one in particular was re-branded... Here's hoping that's wrong and they've been working on it behind the scenes all this time!

I have known about this for some time now but never got around to investigate it. http://www.parallax-audio.com Its the closest I've seen to CW's SoundStage FX3.

It looks very cool! According to the about page, it was originally produced in 2011 by one guy while he was studying composition.

The parallax plugin does look cool...
I'm wondering how it's implemented...?
John... Looking forward to hearing your review of Tverb...
Sadly, soundstage is not on my current DAW though fx1 & fx2 are installed (?)
I'm gonna checkout an older machine if it will turn on... Hmmm... Thinking now I belueve I remember where the disks are... Maybe the serial number is there too? None of these are lusted in my account...

Keni The VSS 2 is very close to CW's Sound Stage. It even has the same multiple instance that SS had. It does not have the ability to make your own room. So far Tverb is sounding very good. It has a "real" quality to it that makes it seem better than the above one. Now I have not tried the VSS 2 as it should be used with a large orchestra and an instance on each track. I will at some point test it out fully. In the end I think because each is a good unique reverb not something that any reverb can do its worth getting both if one can. For now the Tverb is on sale. That makes it a priority. The VSS 2 can wait awhile. Heck I knew about it when it was in version 1. It can wait a little longer.

scook FX3 Soundstage was not part of the FX1 or FX2 collections. The FX3 download and serial number should be in your store account. If it is missing see http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3148924
Thanks Steve... Yes, I know it's fx3 but I have all three disks together (I believe)... If I don't find it tomorrow I will contact support and see if it leads anywhere...

Thanks John... Yes, it's always nice to have lots of tools and choices... I hope you like Tverb and I look forward to hearing from you... So I'm guessing a copy on each track with the same mic setup and a unique location is how it must be used. It would need a different kind of integration to work with a single instance, eh? ;-)

OK... I lucked out so far... I found my hard copy of FX3 along with serial number... Does this require a registration code-reply to activate? If so, I need to do the new contact support thing to investigate it not being listed in my account.... I can't try the install until later today if at all today so maybe someone knows this in advance? Thanks!

I notice there is no dll in its folder either...
Anyone know of a workaround?

I've been using Cake for about 17 years now and I honestly don't remember this reverb. It sounds very similar to something that I am using a lot though. That is UA's Oceanway Studio plug. Multiple rooms and mic choices, all sampled at Oceanway. You can move mics all over and change levels, etc.
