Will someone please explain how Curling is scored? It's been on the TV steady but I still can't figure out what they're doing. Canada is on a hot streak but I have no idea why.

Wow, and I thought this was one of the easiest sports to score!  It's like shuffleboard or horseshoes (which actually has more complex scoring).  Only stones that are touching that circle are eligible for scoring and whoever is closest to the center gets a point, if that team has more than one stone closer, then they get a point for each that's closer than the closest opponent stone.  Scoring only occurs after all eight stones have been used.

Curling is housework on ice. I think the winner is whoever is judged to have left it the cleanest. HTH.

Americans tend to ignore the Olympics unless some American is really kicking butt.
...

Americans are spoiled rotten by the number one and Hollywood factory of people. Many other sports suffer because of it, and the major fault in all this is ESPN, because it is a part of a conglomerate that is after major money so they can continue being a cash cow ... and it being fun for you, or course!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

Hi,

Haven't watched anything and don't miss it at all. The commercialization of it, is so sick that I can barely watch it. I don't see a sport anymore. I'm only seeing some kind of greed!

Thanks for clearing that up Craig. I watched several games with a look of polite bewilderment on my face. Even though I have been watching for a week I'm only now starting to figure it out.

Curling would be even more fun if they allowed checking like in hockey...
(Hey, I like both sports so why not try to combine 'em?)

Sorry Mosh...I removed what I thought. It wasn't nice. I just don't agree with you.

By the way....I watch every chance I get and I support everyone of them. I believe they were winners making it there whether or not they get metal.
I especially enjoy watching the lady ice skaters. Absolutely beautiful.

They just televised here in the states the men's 4 X 7.5km Biathlon relay. This is a cross-country skiing with shooting sessions. Truly an exciting finish between Russia and Germany in front of the home crowd. To me this is Olympic viewing at it finest. A great race!

And the men's four-person bobsledding team won bronze.
(One of two events I actually saw part of during the whole Olympics, the other being the end of the 50k Cross-Country skiing... *Sigh...*)
