Americans tend to ignore the Olympics unless some American is really kicking butt. They even added sports that resonated more with Americans like snowboarding and that usually is only enough to get us to watch those events and continue to ignore more traditional games. As a child I think the only winter Olympic event watched with any regularity was figure skating. You would think that the shooting sports would strike a chord with the most gun happy country in the world, but any American can name the US biathlon athletes.

We enjoyed the figure skating today. That and the women's biathlon. skiing and shooting is COOL. The men's luge was OK. I don't care for hockey. Ski jump is "ehh". Cross country skiing looks like torture. I recorded season 1 and 2 of The Walking Dead last Sunday, recorded season 3 and the part of four that has been aired today and yesterday. My DVR is FULL and I have already watched 1 and 2. I have to check and see if I can watch the first part of S4 OnDemand or I am going to run out of room. It is better than I thought. There are three other good shows on, IMO. Justified, The Following, and The Blacklist but I think the season is on hold until the Olympics are over. I am surprised at TWD, it is better than I thought it would be. J

We usually watch everything we can on the Winter Olympics. It just so happened that the snow boarding was currently on when I posted last night. I have been really impressed with the 15 year old Russian figure skater, she has shown maturity and poise way beyond her years.
Cross country skiing and shooting would be cool with me. I used to do both.....just not at the same time.

Cross country skiing is great, especially when there is a close race. These racers just give it their max.
The opening ceremonies were very good, even if I personally couldn't appreciate some of it. It was very sophisticated with a lot of classical music and ballet. Very tasteful, just not my favorites. There was a part in the show where they were tracing into the 20th century industrialization. The music and performance intensity was awesome. I have it on DVR and watched that part again today.

I only get interested when finnish athletes have realistic chances to be in something like top 6. There's a constant flow of sports on tv nowadays. When I was a kid the Olympics (winter or summer) were the only chance to see all the top athletes of the world competing against eachother. So, once every fourth year, that was a BIG thing. Now I can see all that and more several times every year. It doesn't give kicks anymore. And they really should build a permanent Olympic city somewhere, where all the Olympic games were held in the future. This cost-competition has gotten totally out of hands.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Being Finnish is one thing but, in most events, it's important that they finish too.

And that reminds me... Near the Olympic village is a hill with a house of ill-repute at the top. There's one guy on his way towards the house, one on his way back from the house and one busy in the house. What nationality are these guys? . . . . . . . . The guy headed towards the house is Russian, the one coming down the hill away from the house is Finnish and the guy in the house? Himalayan.

The word you are looking for is DAMN COLD. But considering Russia's stand on homosexuals, I'm surprise they allowed the biathlon ..

Watched the women's luge event last night. Hey, anytime you get someone rocketing in excess of 80 mph on a sled down an icy track, that's a good time. I also think that anyone who competes in the skiing slopestyle event has a padded room waiting for them on the dark side of the Moon. I love watching people do things I would never do.

I've never really thought about it before ... but, for the last several days the medal count on my MSN homepage has had Netherlands consistently in the top 3 and their flag has been represented by a round disc (I guess to represent a medal) ... their flag really looks like the PepsiBapsi logo.

I prefer Bapu Moobtastic. It has 20% - 40% more moobs. There's a distinct flavor that's just not found in other soft drinks. I think it tastes like Am.
