Original Colab w/Mr. no999

It's called Soft Truths. I wrote it and am singing, playing the bass, dobro, and rhythm guitar. Mark did the drums, backing keys/strings, and lead guitar and the mix. We did this a few years ago and he's working on a new mix. I think this one is pretty killer. There are some new folks who may not have had a chance to hear it from back in the day.

It's at the top of my soundcloud page,

We may post a remix, but again, I think this one is the cat's arse.

You gotta love the frettless... :-) That bass? I'm not like the worlds greatest frettless player? And it took me a long time to learn to play it "reasonably well." But man, you've just gotta love that bass... I think Mark kicked the crap out of the production as well. He's very talented and I am blessed to be able to work with him. He actually did work on the rhythm guitars as well, I left that out in the OP.

I'm no Bapu? But I can hold my own on that instrument  I love that bass...

IMO, this is the Herb Hartley (guitar hacker) hit that was never written? You know, "we've never actually been seen in the same place, at the same time?" Hummm..... We're not the same person, I'm better looking and can do more push-ups (sorry Herb) I'm a fan of the Hacker? And I hope he understands that and hears himself in this wonderful country "Pop" ballad. Because we're cut from the same cloth...

Nice. I especially like it after the drums kick in. (The rhythm at the beginning is really interesting--either it's complex or I'm too simple to grasp it). Good performances all around. Good singing and playing. Catchy tune.

I can't remember if I've heard this one before or not.  it doesn't sound familiar to me.

excellent song, vox are excellent as usual from you!
the synth starting at 0:47 is a little harsh to my ears.  I'd suggest backing its volume down a little or giving it a cut on the EQ to carve out some of the harshness (all through the song where it is).
that's the only mix suggestion I have - otherwise I think it's tight and balanced.  great job!
    love the guitar solo!
excellent work from both of you.

Seems like the vox could be raised.

On my end it seems the instrumentation is about 2db over the vox.

Sounded good on my ATH-AD300's. Nice song, if a little derivative. Kept expecting to hear 'gimme the beat boys, and free my soul' every time the verse went into the chorus , but hey, nothing new under the sun. Excellent vocals as always, lovely solo, fine mix.

Robby sounds great. It's a great song as well , good writing! You did a great job on the vocals and the production is good. My only suggestion as far as mix is that the whole mix could use a  little taming in the high frequencies ,sounds good like it is but seems to be a touch too bright on my speakers. Sounds great as is but I think it would sound even better with the highs backed down just a touch.

I was going to sub-title it "You lying **" (rhymes with WITCH!) But it looses some of it's authenticity then? Or perhaps gains some? I dunno.
