Do it direct through paypal using Reece's email address.  I gave up on making the link work.  Interesting that it likes some users but not others.

Edit:  I misread your post.  I see that yours did make the transfer.

This sort of thing just blows me away.
Most of us have never met. Yet, if one of us is in trouble, everybody is there, at least vicariously.
I've been on the receiving end, and it warms my heart to see this for Jimmy.
The donations are appreciated, but what really makes the difference is knowing that people really care.

Jimmy, my thoughts are with you. Godspeed, my friend.

Reece, can I swing by the house and drop off a check?
I don't think my Paypal account is even active anymore.

I got lucky, with unemployment, disability, my wife's disability, and the medical coverage from the gov'ment and the charity of three doctors....I really didn't have any money problems. And this problem has racked up bills around $70,000...

But knowing people who you have never met, from all corners of the world are throwing their thoughts and prayers your way, well it lightens the load.

The practical benefit to slipping Jimmy a little spending money is easy to consider when you think about how hard it is to see 5 doctors to get one answer. That can eat up a lot of gas money and time... and benefits systems don't account for that.

So even if you don't think you have much to give... think about the cost of a couple days gasoline or household needs and you can see how helpful even a small offering can be.

We love you Jimmy!

I had no problems with IE7 on an XPPro-32 box, although I did get an HTTP 405 error afterwards when I clicked on the 'return to donations coordinator' button.  The transaction did go thru though.

I tried this at home way after you fixed the link, so no way the old version was in the cache. The other attempts were made at my office before your repair.  But seems like the transactions are happening so that's all that really matters.

oh - ok.  not sure why it did that then.  but like you said, transactions are going thru, so that's all that really matters.  if ANYONE has a problem that can't get the transaction to work, PLEASE let me know.

you can also go directly to www.paypal.com and send money to reecebain@sbcglobal.net and reference "jimmyman" and try to select DONATION and that will work fine as well.

Re:Our good friend Jimmy 2011/01/29 23:09:54 (permalink)

I thought I'd touch base and give you all the "what's going on" aspect. There are still
many unknowns at this point both financially and physically. Financially my unemployment
ran out in December. And couldn't happen at a worse time. I've tried to be frugal anyway
But such things as the roof needing fixing and things breaking down around the house
some friends of mine hear are trying to help me out with these things and see if we can
find ways to do something about it.

It's got to the point as my friends say "jimmy" "something has got to happen" "we've
got to do something". So even before the "cancer" and the effects there was "that"
problem. The reason that I say this is in no way to imply that I'd be "asking" for help,
But the more that times goes by the more I realize that "yes" something has to be done.
Being so weak and spending a lot of time in bed doesn't help. But I now see that
my two local friends are seeing my situation from a more "clear" view.

I think that in my mind that I'm thinking in a mindset like "making it through all this"
and "that alone" when in fact there are realities. The last prescription for pain was
75.00 out of pocket like much of this has been. And again thinking about how
things add up, maybe because of the pain or whatever taking charge of my mental
state.

Last night on Friday 1/28 for whatever reason at about 2 am for about 20 minutes
or so I felt no pain and a since of well being. Why I don't know, but I do know that
it was like feeling alive again. Maybe the prayers?

Thank you all so much for the comments, prayers, thought's, information etc.
The financial contributions are a bit of a "realization" for me as well as I see that
"making a difference" when I think about it and realize that the money goes
to the expenses to help the cause.

It was so kind of Janet and Reece to do so in that aspect as well as those of
you who chose to help out in that area. I didn't expect that so it comes as a
surprise. It also help me to get on focus as I think about the fact that the financial
end of things here are an issue.

Likewise those who send they're thoughts and prayers "also" have their "value"
as well. It is really astounding that people such as the forum members here can
unit and show their caring heart, support, love etc to the point that "they" are such a
close family, and that is what it feels like.

As time goes on and I learn more of whats happening in my situation I'll let you
know. In the meantime thank and bless each and every one of you for everything.

Jimmy:
Finding out one has cancer is possibly one of the scariest things one can hear. As one who has had my own bout with the disease I can understand what you're going through. Back around Labor Day weekend of 2007 I was in the hospital being operated on and a 16 inch long 4 inch diameter chunk of my small intestine was removed. Testing showed it was cancerous. I had no idea I had cancer previously (I'd had troubles on and off for years with my digestive tract but there was nothing conclusive from the GI doc I was seeing on the cause). When the oncologist who was brought in on my case came in my hospital room mentioned the C word it was like my world dropped out.

Through subsequent testing over the next almost 2 years both my surgeon and oncologist believe they got it all. Quite a relief as the oncologist said my type of cancer (adenocarcinoma of the small intestine I think was what he called it) was something that's seen in maybe 1 in 1000 cases (and this guy is the head of the NJ Cancer Institute so he knows his stuff). No radiation or chemo. I did a heck of a lot of research when I got out of the hospital in 2007 on cancer and it's treatment with different therapies and I believe this is what helped me. I showed my oncologist what I researched and things I'd done and he was amazed.

Cancer can be beat and it's not a death sentence anymore. Take charge of your care in this, research the living daylight out of it, and you'll make it through. I can, if you're interested, PM you with some of the stuff I've done.

I'm not going to say get well soon because it can be a long journey. I'll just say to get well and don't give up.

Jack

Jimmy, this is great news!  The pain might come back but our prayers will still be coming through for you.  Stay positive and by all means get some food into your system.

I fractured my jaw in July 2010 and had my jay wired shut.  Eat some Equate Plus (Walmart equivalent of Ensure) it has extra calories, baby food, apple sauce, Put some icecream and fruit in the blender, even some of your favoite meals and put them in the blender with some chicken/beef broth.  You will need all the strength you can muster once you start chemo.

Jimmy, you don't know me, or many of us for that matter, from Adam, however we are all very intrested in your progress.  PLEASE, please keep us posted on your recovery.

Grab the hem of His garment and don't let go!

Jimmyman – The few times I’ve posted songs you inspired me to do better than I ever expected I could.

Have faith.  Treatments have improved.  I’ve been around cancer my whole life.  The big difference from my youth until now is that people survive it.  It’s not easy, but they do come through the other side with a new outlook on life; as you will.

I am excited about the generosity of this community!  I do not wish to post the results yet, but I want to wait until I tell Jimmy first what kind of dontaion he can expect.

Also, I hope everyone understands that I will not post individual amounts - that will remain confidential.  but I will give Jimmy the names and email addresses of those who gave.  I will also be sharing with Janet all of my records to make sure we there is at least some level of accountability.

Thank you everyone for being so generous to our friend in need!
