Our good friend, Jimmy
Many of you know and enjoy Jimmy's music and heartfelt vocal delivery. He's helped me quite a bit on my songs and even sang and produced my song 'Born to Run' a few months ago. I recently found out he hasn't been feeling well for a few months now. He's had terrible pain in his jaw and has a hard time sleeping or eating (or anything else). Well, he just found out it's cancer. The doctor said they'll have to pull all his teeth, then he'll have to go through radiation and chemo. To top it off, he has no job and no insurance. He was hesitant to tell everyone on the forum, but I knew you good folks would want to know. He'd appreciate your prayers and good wishes. OK, some have asked about donating to the cause, so Reece generously set up a paypal account for that reason. Albert noted that it could hinder him getting Medicaid/care? if he has too much money, so we'll keep that in mind too. If you have more questions, ask Reece (Beagle) or me. In the Coffee House, in a thread with the same name, Jimmy gives more details about his ordeal toward the bottom of the first page. To donate: http://www.beaglesound.com/jimmyman/index.html

Janet, Please tell Jimmy that we are thinking of him and that our prayers are certinly going out to him and his family. For fear of revealing too much personal information, does he have family that will be there for him during this time and is there anything more the Songs forum family can do to help? Rich

+1 to what Jon says. Overall oral cancers have a fairly high survival rate so here's hoping it's been caught early enough.

I'm sure he'll be reading this....he just didn't want to post it himself. I'm not sure how much family is near him. I'm not sure how he's going to handle his doctor bills either. So there may be tangible ways we can help.

Too bad we can't harness the oogles of talent on this forum for a kind of benefit project. Unfortunately it would require a distribution/marketing talent out of our league to make a financial difference. We are praying for him. Please keep us posted. thank you!

I always wonder when a prolific poster like Jimmy starts fading from our forum. So sad. Jimmy, if you are reading this: nothing but the best for you, man, and you are in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for passing this on, Janet. I sent Jimmy an e-mail and hope to hear from him. I know someone else who has been dealing with jaw cancer and he's pulling out of it now but it's been a tough road for him. Jimmy's definitely a gentleman with a kind heart so I know lots of us on the forum are here for him.

I don't know who Jimmy is, but if he's got no job and no insurance prayers are good, money is better. [25] On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" [26] "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" [27] He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" [28] "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live." [29] But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" ---- who is YOUR neighbor?---- [30] In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. [31] A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. [32] So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. [33] But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. [34] He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. [35] The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' [36] "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" [37] The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." I don't know Jimmy. But, if someone would help me get in touch with him, I'd like to help him financially. Can someone post his profile so that I can get in touch with him?

I was extremely distraught when I read this... We're all going to have to face things like this if we live long enough, but Jimmy is far to young to be beset with this kind of a tragedy. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I read this earlier today :-( I don't know Jimmy well, but still this news is just a punch in the gut. All I could do was say a prayer, so I did.

I just hope we can help Jimmy a little bit. I can't imagine we can even come close to paying his bills, but maybe we can ease his stress a little. yes, robby, we can give "cheerfully" as we can. thanks so far for everyone who has given and everyone who plans to give and even for those who can't give, but can pray or think helpful thoughts for him.

If everyone here who knows Jimmy, even if it's just a little, can give 25 or 50 bux? It could really add up to something that could help make a difference for him... Or anything at all? The cheerful giver in the bible was a woman who gave a penny? And Jesus acknowledged "her" contribution, not based on the volume of it, but based on the gesture, she gave all she could, she didn't have anything? But she still gave... I would implore others here to follow her example... No one should have to feel alone under these circumstances, no one.

Thank you Janet and Reece as well as everyone else. I posted a response over in the coffee house and was intent after that to do so here in the songs forum but I had to go lay down and try to get some rest. It doesn't seem right that even just sitting and typing can take something out of me but it does. It might be that pain itself causes a drain on my system in and by itself alone. I sit here and look at my guitar as I think "I should be doing something" but the pain is too strong to concentrate or be "up to it". Even with the pain medication it is still like a "dull" pain instead of the more "sharp" pain. I can look back now as I stopped posting songs and then later found myself not commenting at all, or very little that I was being affected by all that. After reading several comments and posts from forum members here in the songs forum it was nice to know that I was viewed as sincere in my comments and hopes that my comments or suggestions on mixes etc were "of use" to members here. If there was anything that I could hope for it would be that I might be "useful" to the forum in one or several ways. I have a passion for those things as well as music itself from my own writing etc perspective. My little project room for writing, recording etc is humble in the since that nothing is like high end gear but I've spent years working on the room to make it somewhat "good" or as close to accurate as possible. That makes me want to give feedback and comment on others works because as I listen to my own mixes etc that I can get an idea of how others are doing in they're works as well. Even before this physical problem I reached a point where in looking at my "own" works that I had accomplished a lot since first joining the forum here and felt it time to try and raise the bar on my "own" writing etc. Such things as looking at and hearing what others are doing has a nice way of having a "something" or comparison to go by. Even if the styles and or genres are different there is still a group of people doing something. It's much like a culture in a way. I enjoy having that availability to see this and be a part of it. Right now the physical part of my situation is a limitation. And I don't know where it goes from here. All your support and prayers are so great in many ways. The "people care" subject makes a lot of difference. That in and by itself means everything. Bless you all for being who you are.
