I sure am glad I found out now BEFORE I bought the full version. This is why I wanted to try stuff out to iron out any problem before hand.

so is the lesson (wrt daw crashability) to test daws with their own stock plugins, thus ruling out that old chestnut of "must be a plugin" causing crash?

My crash experiences may likely be due to using DX plugins thru dxshell and some Sonar plugins.
 
Studio One Prime has been rock-solid... but it can't use 3rd party plugins.
