Particle of God

Ok, which one of you practical jokers sent "Godparticle" over to the Studio One forum?     We're sending him back on the next Redeye with his pants on fire.

Please do try to keep your pets on a leash.

Oh dear, I've just had a look at some of his rants - he's still touting Mixcraft as the best thing ever, and his rants, if anything, have become even more florid & lengthy than those he posted over here.

    Does this sound familiar?:

LISTEN TO ME NOW! TAKE HEED S1 DEVELOPERS, GET RID OF ALL THE SUPERFLUOUS QUIRKY JUNK THAT YOU OBVIOUSLY DEEM NICE LITTLE TOUCHES AND REPLACE THE WHOLE DAMN DEBACLE WITH A COMMON A SENSE INTERFACE. That ease of use spiel that Presonus spouts about S1 is a total misnomer and all marketing hype.

i SAY AGAIN, TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT THE MIXCRAFT 6 INTERFACE AND TAKE A LESSON FROM THEM BECAUSE S1 IS NOT EASY AT ALL.

Godparticle; wrote this in Studio One forum

Firstly i spent 35 minutes trying figure-out how to switch on the damn metronome sound. That should have been ON with a two-bar count-in BY DEFAULT. The option from the outset should have been to switch it OFF, not switch it on, and thus would have saved me a lot of unnecessary wasted time, especially because 90% of users would more than likely NEED and prefer the metronome to be on from the very start.

AFTER hours and hours and months of unnecessary learning curves, but i can tell you point blank that after diligently reading the manual i got nearly nothing done after 5 hours.

Either the S1 developers are super intelligent or i am damn stupid?

YOU S1 developers need to take A DAMN HARD LOOK AT MIXCRAFT 6 AND COMPLETELY OVERHAUL THE S1 INTERFACE. , so i must be blind as well as damn stupid, but how can that be, because i dam well saw it in Mixcraft 6.

LISTEN_UP! I wanna make music, not sit there like a dweeb fiddling with interface quirks that you obviously find fascinating to waste time with.
I WANNA MAKE MUSIC MATE, UNDERSTAND?? 4/4 Bang! Bang!
Is that too hard for you to understand??

AND THOSE OH SO PREDICTABLE S1 FANBOYS THAT ARE GONNA SWARM ////

He is funny! Funny s-hit right there!

That GP fella sure is one of a kind, huh...

I was a bit surprised to see he's made so many friends on the S1 forum too, though he has mentioned S1 here in the past.   Now we know why.  I think it's something along the lines of "spreading the joy" or "spreading the wealth".    Just without the words joy or wealth.

I couldn't read the whole posts - they were just too wordy and too repetitive - but it was fairly easy to get the gist of it.   And "it" was classic GP, just with a different slant...  aspects of S1 instead of SONAR.   And once again, Mixcraft was mentioned as the standard against which all others should be measured.

I still don't understand why he's so desperate to find a DAW with a shallow learning curve when Mixcraft is obviously so perfect for him. Was it ever fully established why he's not just getting on with his glamorous music career (popping pills with beautiful girls from the West Coast to the East Coast) using Mixcraft?

He has got some serious problems. And Studio One is very intuitive and easy to use yet he is having so many issues with it.

He hasn't put the preliminary time into it and done the basic stuff like read the manual, read a few reviews, watch a few tutorials. It's all covered in there. He did the same with Sonar. He never really bothered to learn it properly.

He is going to have serious issues with ANY program he chooses to use. The main problem is with him and not any software.

Here is an approach that I use to learn a program. Especially quickly. Like I had to learn FL Studio in a hurry to teach a student the program. (And I love it now!)

1     Go to the website and print out all information that pertains to the program. Everything, features, plugins and instruments, content etc. This will often end up being quite a number of pages. 20 or more. I put them in one of those folders with the plastic pages. Read this at least three times. You will be amazed what you did not know

2     Printout every Sound on Sound review on the program. Important to start with the very first one as that often gives the initial details. Following reviews often only contain the differences to the previous version.

3     Buy every Groove 3 video there is on your program and watch them 2 or three times over. This was gobsmacking for me with Studio One. It is WAY bigger and more featured than anything I ever imagined. Also do this every 6 or 12 months. Most of us do not use everything a program has to offer and we need to be reminded of the stuff we never use or have forgotten about!

4     Buy any fantastic books like you guys have got Scott writing those wonderful books on Sonar. For me that would be a no brainer.

5     Watch the on line tutorials. Many DAW's have got amazing videos and tutes on line. Presonus, Cakewalk all excellent stuff. Watch the basic ones first. How to setup get started etc....

6     Watch YouTube tutorials as well. There are many Pro videos on there but also many amateur ones too. I have picked heaps from the amateur videos definitely.

7     Read the Manual. Most manuals are often well written in some sort of order. Setting up getting started getting more advanced etc.

Do all this and you will be super amazing at using your program. Our friend Godparticle needs to do this and he will very happy from that point on.

Fumbling around in a program is NOT the way to learn it these days. There is just way too much going on now.

Hey John Logic 4 was not bad was it! I started with that and found it pretty good actually.

Jeff Emagic's Logic 4 had no web site at that time. When I bought it it took 4 month to get the manual. There was no such thing as a help file either.
