Thanks, Jeff. With a little nudging I was able to get the original track to drop right, temp's right and everything. Note to others, I had to truncate at 1:01:028 and shift left to get it line up in sync, this is the usual mp3 front end gap. edit: offset is corrected

Troy for regular piano .. i have the PMI Bosendorder P290 .. which i use a lot .. but i like the sound of "The Old Lady" better for most usages. Also, the pianos which come with the Dimension synth in P5 are quite good as well. jeff ps: I still use the P250 yamaha piano the most though.....

Wow, I forgot the tempo on this one. Seems a faster than the original tempo, but maybe not. Looking forward to mixing it. Maybe we can do a whole album full of SD tunes.

the sheet i've got says 117.. so that's what i used... but that's maybe how they wrote it and did it different in studio. jeff

Oops. My bad. I quickly skimmed through the posts and missed it, Ed. It just seemed a bit faster than what I had remembered. Then again, now that I am older, things seem to be faster now that I am slower tempo-wise.

I had to truncate at 1:01:028 and then slide left. Lines up perfectly with the click. I even bounced PingDXI to an audio track so i could check it visually. Am I missing something or is there a typo in your post?

ok .. we're going to do a pile-on cover of Steely Dan's "Peg" ... since everybody sounded game ... so saddle up .. should be fun... I am interested in doing horns. However, the next few days are definitely not doable. Obviously, since our band does this tune, it would not take me long to lay down a quick sax part. To do a full section--and do it right--however, would require more time. I'm trying to balance some priorities, so lemme think about it, ok?

I know - I always have an additional question! But, what's our goal here? Are we just doing a copy? (Chaz made me question it with his question about mixing.) Dang, now I gotta re-learn that solo!

Is it just me? I've unpacked the bundle twice, and even though my default is set to 48 KHz / 24-bit, the bundle opens as 44.1 / 16. We've agreed to do this 48 / 24, right?

Actually... the bundle is empty except for a tempo map and markers. Import the tracking beds of your choosing at 48/24, truncate the clip(s) beginning to 1:01:028, and slide the clip(s) all the way to the left to line up with the click. Track away.

Actually... the bundle is empty except for a tempo map and markers. True, Steve! But, when I open it, I see my Sonar status bar change from my default 48 / 24 to 44.1 / 16. And, of course, if I import after that, I'm at 44.1 / 16. I'm still on 3.1.1 PE, so maybe that's an older behavior, but that's what's happening. Actually, at this point, I have my project all sorted out, and set up at 48 / 24 (it was simple enough to just start fresh) -- I just wanted to confirm with everyone that that's what resolution we're working at.

actually, since the audio track doesn't contain anything, i believe it will default to whatever your settings in the "Option->Audio" dialog are set to. if i'd have thought about it more, i should have included the click count as in the bundle as an audio track and then it wouldn't have been a problem .. but .. i was trying to save download time for people. jeff

RLD, I haven't noticed the tuning discrepancy, and the .mp3 I used seems to be in tune with the original recording (which I also imported, for reference, into my project). Hey, man, let me know what you're going to do on this, and I won't work so hard! M

Hmm, well, I'm already "fixed," but the only thing I didn't do (per your list) was to close the project and re-open it, before importing anything. Maybe that would have done the trick; but it wasn't a major issue, regardless. So, the answer must be, "Yes, M, 48/24." That's all I was really after! But, thanks!
