Mind you, having to wade, as fecking usual, through all the silly images and pointless posts in what should really be a serious thread about an old friend of ours, makes it more difficult to spot the thoughtful and interesting posts amongst the sh1te surrounding them. Once again, I apparently am stepping over a line. My apologies to anyone I have offended by posting buffoonery in a serious thread. I'll try not to let it happen again.

Thanks Bapu. Sure beats trying to find a post on the main FRED. If we could all hug and get to normal I'm all for it. Or was there really ever normal?

How many of the " I am leaving this pile of crap product" have you read or will continue to read? The Pro tools is sew much better, blash blah Bub allowed himself to be pulled in by the baiters, who in MY OPINION should also have been terminated ...
Musicman I was concerned that I would be misunderstood on this. I don't think there is anything wrong with comparing product A to product B. And even if someone prefers product A and is telling someone about that on a forum supported by product B, this happens all the time and is a way to learn about products in the area we work in. This is usually subjective and not across the board for everyone or else we wouldn't have product B at all. I have several DAW programs. One of them is supposed to be pretty good. When I first tried it out I didn't like it but they have improved it and I have to say now it's a darned good software program. At least two or three others here use the same program and it is more of a staple in their studio than Sonar. I still always reach for X3 whenever I'm doing most of my work, even though I recently upgraded to their flagship program. For me , I have a feel for X3 that allows me to work better than any other way. Some of that is probably because I started out on Cakewalk software and i know the short cuts and keystrokes. To each his own. I think a line is crossed sometimes though when person expresses their opinion but won't let it go. In my mind this becomes more about discrediting and bashing than stating an opinion.PT and Logic snobs have come over here and tried to pick a fight, probably paid shills trying to network their products. In Bubs case I seen someone who was very unhappy with the product. He wasn't alone in that feeling. I think he really felt like he had bought into a mistake and his frustration would boil over at times. Many others have been frustrated with certain things about Sonar , especially when it was upgraded from 8.5 to X1. There were some issues. There will always be some issues no matter what. Different people deal with things in different ways. If my frustration level got to the point that I wanted to wring someones neck over an issue I would simply go to a product that I thought I could use. Life is too short to have a hernia over it. I think software companies like Cakewalk will always have issues as will Cubase and Logic and on it goes. If the ideal is perfect, then the ideal is unattainable for everyone at all times. Still someone will pay good money for a program and then try it and something won't work quite right and they will go ballistic. I don't think this will ever change. One thing that has changed is that many customers who were discontent have had their issues worked out just fine and went on to make music. You don't read about it because not many of them return to thank Cakewalk publicly on the forum. It's usually only the discontent people we read about. Bub dropped me a line yesterday and he wanted to clarify some things about what I had said. He had been a Cakewalk customer for at least 15 years prior to X1 coming out. He has tried the X3 demo and he really likes it. Many of the issues that were happening for him went away with X3. He is a little bitter about being banned. I don't blame him really. No one in his shoes would have felt much different. I know the mods do what they feel they need to do. I'm in the middle here and I don't really blame anyone. I had thought the ban was about a particularly negative conversation regarding X1 and what it wasn't doing for him. Now I'm starting to remember....he mentioned something about bicycles and I think I remember that thread now. I think things had simmered and been dealt with by the time I could look at the outcome of that thread. Usually there is more than one involved and sometimes I think maybe a decision is based on other factors but I'm not venturing a guess on that one. It never ends well. This is getting to be a long post so I'll try to keep the rest short and to the point. Bub is a great guy. We miss him. I think most of us will agree that he added a lot to the forum. Like myself he has said and done some things that he probably wished he hadn't.He is simply human like the rest of us. I think we all deserve at least a second chance. Petition or no petition I see this as a simple thing....Seth if you get the time after all of that alli baba crap will you allow him to come back? How can he contact you if the answer is yes???

Thank you for the clarification and your position. I apologize if it appeared my rant was directed at you . You strike me as a pretty good fella and we've never tangled before and I don't was this to be construed as a slugfest. I agree with all your points, and am glad Bub reached out to you . I guess what chaps my arse is the other offenders in that melee are off scott free. Lets go make some music while we wait for a decision.

In all fairness, all Bub ever wanted was for SONAR to work (somewhere near) as advertised. His growing frustration with his Cakewalk product of choice, and of the perceived lack of acknowledgement from Cakewalk with regards to the problems he was having, is what led him to make comparisons with other company's products and their (apparently superior) attitude toward customer service. I may be wrong, but I don't recall him ever starting any trouble, and when he did retaliate to provocation, he didn't say anything particularly untoward, other than setting the record straight and pointing out the facts as he saw them. I've done and said a lot worse than Bub ever did in these forums, as have a lot of people, but in my opinion Cake (quite wrongly) decided there was a need to make an example of Bub. For what it's worth, I think all viewpoints on Cakewalk products, and on their competitors, is valid as a topic in the Cakewalk forums. What would you prefer - reading post after post of sycophantic trite from the likes of John and Daveny5, or being involved in a rational discussion about the cons, as well as the pros of the software we are obviously all fond of? I've said it before and I'll say it again - any product will only evolve and become better when the folk who make it listen to and take notice of their critics, not their fanboys.

Apologies Tim - I hadn't read your post #80 before I replied as above. I see you'd already addressed some of the issues I raised, and I've edited out my quote of your other post. Mind you, having to wade, as fecking usual, through all the silly images and pointless posts in what should really be a serious thread about an old friend of ours, makes it more difficult to spot the thoughtful and interesting posts amongst the sh1te surrounding them.

I know you know it but I will mention anyway... this is really not the place for a thread such as this. It would be better "Upstairs" where the "Real" powers reside. I was thinking maybe even a link up there down to here might help but that would be shot down as being not relevant by the self appointed police that frequent those boards. Bub is welcome as far as I'm concerned but as others have said the people that can change that will probaly not see this petition. I'm okay with that, my interaction with Bub hasn't changed in the least as we both are members of "Another" forum. (There I go again......Us vs Them)
