Please Andrew give us clarification on Addictive Drums!!
Hi all,i have read a recent post on Addictive Drums. Many studios,like me,have not a main DAW link to the web for preserve it by stability problems. I will download X3 with another laptop and then moving out the content to main DAW. Can i bought X3 with Addictive Drums without problems or not? Many thanks. Addictive Drums' installer appears to be a combined downloader. It requires an internet connection. If you contact XLN, they may be able to offer an alternative solution.

Addictive Drums is an internet connected installer now.

Hi Mr.Jackson thanks for replay. I'm an enthusiastic Pro Sonar user,but in this case i feel this answer like a discharge of responsibility,couse i buy a Cake product and i repeat that many "PRO" studios haven't the main DAW connected to web. For me a solution could be a serial application(agree withXLN) for users on the Cake shop. All my Best. Roberto

No, but cakewalk are the ones taking the money, so they should also take some responsibility rather than just brush people off with a " you need to contact them" type answer. They have used this a pretty major selling point on their promotional material so it's wrong to just dismiss people who have bought into it, but can't actually use it with a dismissive wave of the hand / talk to them it's not our problem attitude.

UPDATE: I have just recieved a reply from XLN to my offline installation enquiry. There is a way to do it, but it depends on what version of AD it is that CW are supplying . Version 1.54 or later is not supported for offline installation and any future versions and add-ons are also not supported,.

The Online Installer will download, install and update your products. Run it on your audio computer. Once you've run the installer once, it is always available from your Applications (Mac) or Start Menu (Win). Requires OS X 10.5 / Intel Mac and an internet connection on your audio computer. For older Macs, or audio computers without internet: please contact support for help with installing.

So if you went to a dealer and bought a car, but it turned out that the key wouldn't start it and their attitude was "not our problem, talk to Ford" you would be ok with that ?

Registering XLN products is like Native Instruments service center. Once you download the XLN installer on your DAW, you can register any of their products and keep them up to date. I think it works very well.

I'm a little confused here. I purchased, downloaded and installed the upgrade to X3 Producer yesterday. I'm poking around and I don't see Addictive Drums in any of the VST folders on in the Instrument list. Is this a complete separate download?

redbarchetta: yes, it's a separate download. Your store account will have an Addictive Drums product key. Enter that at their website and download the installer.

I more or less agree with you. Minimally the 05_XLN_Audio_Addictive_Drums_Download_Instructions.rtf should have had a line/paragraph outlining what process would be needed to activate A/D on a non-internet connected PC. Edit: Actually per you example - this would be more like if you bought a car and Ford sent you to a hi-fi shop across town to install your sub-woofer audio system (or what analogy rocks your boat). If your woofer stops woofing Ford is going to going to have you contact the hi-fi shop.

Not according to this.... Offline Installation of Addictive Drums and add-ons2013-03-22 11:34 As of May 2012, all XLN Audio products require an internet connection (and at least OS X 10.5 on Mac) for installation. If you don't meet these requirements, we will continue to support 'offline' installation of AD / ADpaks / MIDIpaks released before this date. Products NOT available for offline install:- Addictive Drums 1.5.4 or later

Yes - if nothing has happened since March I guess offline is not available for the one we get with Sonar (1.5.7)

From where I'm not sure because I thought I had downloaded all files that were listed last night when I started downloading. Kinda thinking Cake needs to have some better documentation on how to get Addictive Drums up and running.
