Awesome! I love mine...I have the digital card option too...If you look around you can get the card thrown in for free....The Eureka is quiet- easy to use--sounds great. The mic pre is excellent..I will add another eventually...the only negative...hard to read buttons...I have mine right under a racklight....Check out the glowing reviews online.....cheers!

I've heard good tihngs about this particular pre and infact you can do a search and find some older threads on this. However this post doesn't pertain to Sonar and should be in the gear section.

It's a very nice preamp/channe strip. I bought one of these and a Focusrite at the same time to try both out and send back one of them. The Eureka sounded wonderful with a Female singer using a Rode NTK tube mic. I ended up keeping the Focusrite and sent back the Eureka because I liked the Focusrite's compressor, built-in de-esser and 'vintage harmonics' feature just a little better than the Eureka. So for us, the Focusrite edged out the Eureka a little.

If I could have afforded it, I'd have kept both. The Eureka is an excellent unit with marvelous sound.

I have two of them and thinking about getting another... or two. I love them. To get any better quality you'd have to buy a $2000 Avalon.

First let me apologize for posting this in the SONAR forum since it is not directly SONAR related. I've been away from the boards for a while and seem to have forgotten some of the protocol. Sorry. again.

To all who have answered, Thank You! I really appreciate the feedback.

Like most others, probably,I really want a Neve pre and an LA-2A (Or other such top end stuff) but, financially am forced to look for "the best I can do under tighter budget constraints". Ha Ha

I had also thought about the Focusrite ISA-220 but that's still a little more money than I can REALLY afford to put into it right now. It seems to be fairly difficult to find practical info on a lot of the "lower/mid" priced units.

to wandersen : which Focusrite unit did you get?

    Thanks so much....

Sorry rodreb...I forgot to say it was the Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro. It was a difficult choice to choose between the two and the circumstances gave me little time to exhaustively work both units over.

For my singer's voice and style of singing and mic, I felt the Focusrite gave me the more "aggressive" effect I felt I needed, and I was able to "get the sound I wanted" quicker with that unit.

I'm stating a lot of caveats because I don't want it to appear I'm talking down the PreSonus Eureka which is certainly not the case. The Eureka might just be perfect for you and the mic you use. With more time to play with it, I might have kept it instead. We tried it first and it sounded so good, I almost didn't even open up the Focusrite box. The Presonus had a very silky, warm sound indeed. The Focusrite "won" mostly due to it's compressor and expander.

If possible, you may want to consider doing what I did and getting both, with the clear understanding from who you buy from that one or the other will go back. Both units are excellent IMO.
