Problem with installation

Hi, was quite a while since I logged in here (have not had too much time over for the last few years...) but anyway.

I have a problem, when I'm about to install Sonar X3a Producer (yeah, the DL version) the installer just stops in the middle of "Extracting files..." after all installation decisions have been made. I have tried with one click installation as well as advanced, with selecting everything and with only selecting the new features for installation.

Anybody have an idea what the problem might be?

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

Can you clarify exactly where the installer problem is occurring?  Your post seems to express two points where the installer doesn't work.
    1. During extraction
    2. When selecting "Advanced" install - The only way to get the "Advanced" install option is when the Extraction process is complete
I must be missing something here.

Make sure you have a lot of space available on the drive your Temp folder is on - that one's bitten me from time to time!

    Hi, thanks for the answers.

    Dan Gonzales:
It's after the extraction process for the installer itself. When it is installing, but extracting files in the installation process. In the task manager the Setup/uninstall is marked as thre programs open at the same time. Two named Setup, and one named Setup - Sonar X3a Producer. Suddenly it just stops and drops CPU to 0 % usage, but it is not marked as not responding (though I can't turn it off with the cancel button neither).

    KPerry:
I have 88 gig free at the main harddrive so that should be enough (I'm not installing the loops and one shots, Dimension etc since I already have them from earlier versions).

Do you still have any of those three processes running in Task Manager after the install stops?

They are all listed in the the task manager and no indication of not responding, but using 0 % CPU each. :/

    Do it slightly different.

    Highlight the 4 download file.
Right click any if the selection. A dialog will open, choose extract to Sonar X3 etc

It will tak a while but all the files will extract and you'll have 1 folder named Sonar X3 etc with one setup file and about 10 or so bin file.

Just double click the setup Sonar file, now extracting the files won't be part of the installation and things should run smoothly

Thanks Mudgel that sped up the process when trying again. Seems like the problem is when setup.exe is extracting the .bin-files though so it stops in the middle of the installation.

Glad it helped. Separating the extraction and installation makes things a little clearer.

Yup, now I'm at least halfway through the installation process before it stops

Sounds like your running out of space on your C drive. How much free space do you have on your C drive?

The OP said he had 88 GB. Be sure to run the setup exe as administrator.

Could it be that one of the files is corrupted? It seems like it would already hang during initial extraction if that were the case, but still...

Running as administrator. I have also tried downloading all files again. Nothing seems to work :/ I´m happy with X2 but really looking forward to some of the new features.

Just to clarify - you are logged in as administrator, or you right-clicked on Sonar and told it to Run As Administrator?
