I need more knowledge and skill. Does that come in a bundle?

No, but it comes in a pedal board.

But isn't the point that you buy it early you get to use it?

If or when the new version comes out I may or may not upgrade depending on what's included. I'm pretty happy with X1 PE Expanded but of course things can always be improved so I'll do what I've always done and buy it if I think it'll be a benefit to me.

If I don't they may tempt me with some deal or other into it's life cycle but the point is I make the choice. If I jump straight in I'll get the benefit of whatever it is I want and for that I'm going to pay more than if I wait. I thought that was fairly true of just about anything in the retail world.

If I want cheap summer clothes I wait till the end of the summer and buy them then. If I actually want to wear them in the summer I have to pay more than if I wait.

I can't see how anyone could be bitter about that.  it's a choice we all make at some point.
Apologies for not replying sooner, I've been on the road the last few days.

I understand what you are saying, but I can also understand how the other folks feel as well.

I find the marketing decisions Cakewalk has been making since the release of X1 to be odd. It could very well be the norm, I don't know. Until recently, Sonar is the only DAW I have ever used so I don't know how others present promotional offers.

Our most popular guitar store has the X1 Producer boxed version for $669!!!

The cakewalk online deal is amazing value, and yes I'm a bit bummed I paid top dollar, not $669 though![I also bought a boxed X1 studio, before buying Producer boxed].

The way I'm looking at it is PT is way expensive for a 32bit only program,as is Albeton,so I still feel cool, when I look at it that way.

The thing is,I tried like #$^% to get an Octacapture in Australia, and couldn't,and now if you live in the US,you can buy one Waaay cheaper[after they eventually showed up here] AND get X1 FREE!.....Timing is EVERYTHING.

Oh wait... you're in Australia. Is that OZ dollars? Even still, from what I understand Australia tends to pay a premium for music stuff. I've heard you can take a couple Les Pauls in your luggage and make enough coin to pay for your trip if you know where to sell them.
