Excuse my ignorance... what's FDM? Is that a download manager? Again another topic I know next to nothing about. :-/

Beepster Cool, Steve. I actually looked at downloading a vid from youtube for the first time acouple weeks ago and couldn't find the option... then when I googled for an answer I saw a bunch of people freaking out about how they disabled that function. I think what they changed was that before, once you'd set it up in Real Player, any time you hovered your mouse pointer over a video or an online audio player, a small option window would open prompting you to either 'Download this video' or 'Download this clip'. Now, however, you must have Real Player open and use their web browser to open the web page the video or audio is on. The 'Download' option will now appear as it used to in any browser. Here's how I do it: Copy the URL of the web page you want to download the audio or video fromOpen Real Player and select: File > New > New Web Browser (or use Ctrl+N)Paste the web page's URL into the address bar of the RP browserClick on either "Download this clip" for audio, or "Download this video" for video. If you only get the option to download 'video', but you only want the audio: - Download the video (by default, the video is saved in the Real Player Library)
- Right click on the video icon in the RP Library and select 'Convert To' - a new window opens with all the conversion options

I don't think Pyro 5 will work on Windows 7 or 8. Pyro Audio Creator is a pretty decent product. I've used it to digitize all of my old cassettes. Its a time consuming process if you want to take the time and split up all the tracks and index them and label the tracks, but it gets the job done and it will use your Sonar VST plug-ins (most of them, not sure about all). I just wish they'd update it to 64-bit.

@steve... Awesome. Bookmarked. @scook... I'll have to check into that. More for feeding the brain beast than anything I guess. FF has always served me well as far as downloads. In fact up until I joined this forum I didn't even realize download managers were a thing. uh... so, perhaps a dumb question but does the F in FDM stand for Firefox or something else?

@Dave... I'm really hoping it will work well with R-Mix. And yeah... a 64 bit update would be nice.

Ah yes. Sorry. I should have known that. Got my brain into too many things today. I should probably get back to reading my X2 manual. Cheers.

@Dave... I'm really hoping it will work well with R-Mix. I tried it and it doesn't. Audio Creator is still a 32-bit app and R-Mix is only a 64-bit plug-in. Maybe we need to petition Cakewalk to make a 64-bit version of PAC.

Is R-Mix really only a 64bit plugin? I just tried a custom install of X2 32bit and it is listed with the checkbox checked as if it would install. That would lead me to believe that there is a 32bit version available. That said, I would imagine that it is locked to SONAR so it still would not work in Pyro but there is only one way to know for sure.

hmm... is it possible to use the Sonar custom install thingy to install certain elements (like R-Mix) at 32 bits? I do seem to recall that R-Mix does have a 32 bit version. But that also brings up the issue that the included version of R-Mix is only supposed to work with Sonar so would it work with Pyro AC considering it's a Cake product? I'm assuming no and frankly I'm neither smart nor patient enough to figure it out.

Yes I do not believe it will, but as I said, there is only one way to know for sure CDA also has the ability to add VSTs to tracks. I have never used the feature relying on SONAR and SoundForge to supply burn ready tracks for CDA. What are you planning to use the VSTs for in Pyro that you can't do in SONAR? I was under the impression that loading up CD burning software with audio processing was an opportunity to make coasters.

Oh I was just hoping I could use R-Mix to clean up some tape hiss while digitizing my cassettes. I'm figuring Pyro AC would be a little less unwieldy than opening up Sonar every time. I could also tag stuff on the fly a little easier this way. Just don't want to be bouncing back and forth between programs just so I can listen to some of my old tapes, yanno? This will obviously require a little more thought... as usual. :-/

Beepster : Audacity has hiss, rumble and click filters !! Personally i use Goldwave (one off licence fee for life) as it has a few more handy features, bell and whistles plus VST support. Cheers, Jerry

Ya know, there might be a 32-bit version of R-Mix that will work in PAC. I only installed the 64-bit version of X2 so there is hope that you can get it to work. I may install the 32-bit version today myself to see if it works.

@joakes... Right on. I'll check it out. Thanks. @Dave... That'd be cool, man. I'm assuming the full version which runs standalone will (provided it's the 32bit version). Just not sure how it would work with the X2 version. Cheers.

OK. I installed the 32-bit version of X2 (takes forever!) and then I scanned the VSTs in pyro audio creator and R-Mix is now listed in the effects. When I selected it, there was a message that popped up saying it was only licensed to use in Sonar X2 and above, but guess what? It worked!!!! So looks like you can use R-Mix in PAC. I also have Bias Sound Soap for cleaning up old recordings and that also works.

Hopefully it will stay usable in PAC and not be "fixed" in a future update.
