It could very well have been a bonus that came with something else you had planted. Occasionally that happens ....

Jim, never happened to me, but you never know.  Well, I don't plant weeds and they come up well. :)

I'm SURE it's not eggplant, since I've never bought that in my life.  :)

Well if it's not a weed or herb, it damn sure looks like a some kind of squash or gourd plant... I have spoken.

Aaah, peppers maybe? Or again, DMT.

Squash?  Oh, I hope so... And that just may be it.  You may be the winner...I'll let you know soon, hopefully.

Definitely not peppers, though. :)

Janet, eat a couple of leaves....

If it doesn't taste of becan, it's not a pig.

I would definitely dry it out and try smoking it before I tried eating it ... but that's just me.

Looks like it comes from the Spinach family, very likely Malabar because it has the red stem.

Starise, I do remember ordering a new kind of spinach and it might have been malabar.  (sheesh...I need to take notes!)  Maybe I should taste it...it's probably ready by now.  Sure is long for spinach!

Yeah, Herb, you're right actually.  The squash is up in the other garden and it's not that shiny or dark green.

My wife just looked and agreed on possibly sweet potato plant. She asked if you compost or throw potato peelings into the garden as mulch. I often do this when the garden is not growing in the colder months.

If you threw in some sweet potato peels, it is possible that one took root and is now growing.

We have large sweet potato fields around here and that vine looks like them. Let it grow and in a month or so, dig gently around the root and you might get a nice surprise of a could of nice sized sweet potatoes.

Bill, I think you'd put anything on a pizza. :)

Herb, I think they're too shiny for sweet potato plants, although I may have put some in the compost.  That doesn't explain the ones in the other garden that are in a straight row though. :)

Yep, that's it!  I just saw it at Park Seed, which is where I buy most of my seeds. Yay!  Thank you!  I need to build some trellises now it looks like. That's wonderful.  The other spinach didn't do so well this year and we eat a lot of it.  You're good. Thanks!

(the rest of you are fun, so that's your consolation prize.)  Thanks!  :)

This plant is called Herb Robert.

Does that make it a hybrid of the Guitarhacker and Led Zep frontman plants?

Hey Janet,  good to see you found out what it is.

For future reference, just hover your mouse over it and you get a lil text box that tells you what it is and how much it has grown.
