REWIRE and how to send midi data to Notion ?
Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out how I could rewire SONAR X3 with Notion so when I record midi tracks in SONAR Notion automaticly receives the midi data and updated the score ? Most demos are for sending audio back from notion via rewire but I just would like to have notion as score editor instead of the one in SONAR, is this possible ? thanks a bunch :) Hans

Thanks but that is not with Rewire, isn't it possible with rewire only ? thanks, Hans

Maybe Notion 5 improved rewire support. BTW, if Cakewalk does a deal for notation, I think MuseScore would be a great choice for integration

Yes I agree Bob, not sure if that would happen, but MuseScore is complete and would definitely make SONAR X3 one of the more serious scoring apps. cheers, Hans

I just launched Notion5 via Sonar/rewire to see what would happen. I couldn't make anything work, but I have no idea what I'm doing. rewire.dll was one of the files the latest update installed ... maybe there's hope.

I'm not at my desk to verify but I think there is a thread on this in the software board.

Thanks guys, seems a lot of videos that allow you to input the notes into Notion and then get the sound in a soft synth in SONAR, but I'd rather have SONAR record notes and have them also updated in Notion so use Notion as the midi score editor for Sonar. Hm, maybe best that we wait until Cakewalk implements a better score editor in future version. cheers, Hans

BobF The way I read this MIDI via rewire is possible. I tried to follow it, but I know squat about rewire.
MIDI data goes from host to client. Audio streams from client to the host mixer. Transport control is shared. You might find this article, ReWire: How to Make Two Programs Work as One helpful.

Thanks Craig for the article just read it and think I understand and I remember in the past that Reason worked very well this way, but Notion doesn't seem to answer anything this way, no sound coming out of Notion, really strange, anyway I think it's easier to have one app so if you guys are like me interested in better scoring features inside Sonar, please vote for it here :) http://forum.cakewalk.com/Professional-Score-editor-m3274614.aspx cheers, Hans
