The mix sounds really compressed. It could be something that SoundClick is doing...or not. The attack of the piano is too smoothed off. What are you using for compression/limiting and how do you have it set? J

Beautiful song! You two guys sound so great together. I guess two classical heads are better than one in this case.

Jonas...you think THIS sounds compressed? You should have heard it before! :) But I'll take a look at it and get back to you on specifics...if I can find them. Thank you, Laney! Thanks Scott. So glad you like it. Thanks Mike. Appreciate it!

Thanks Mark! I wasn't sure he'd even be willing to play on a piece of mine, but after hearing several of his, I thought it just might work. And I'm happy that it has so far. :)

I think it is great tunage. I think the guitar would cut through better if the piano's center was moved over to the left a little more (if that makes sense). I saw a trick you can do with the guitar (if you don't already know about it). Clone the guitar twice. On one track use a hi and low pass filter, the sencond, use just a hi pass filter and on the third, use just a low pass filter. The track with the hi and low pass filter would be centered (wherever you put it in the field). The high pass filter would be just to the right of that and the low pass filter would be just to the left. You could use a widener on the strings, except the bass, and it should surround you guys nicely. Very cool indeed!

Thanks Bobby. Thanks for the idea, GP. (sorry I've been so slow at answering...another crazy week around here.) I'm sure Rik will look into the guitar ideas and I'll look into the other stuff. Glad you liked it. :)

Hi, Janet, I know that I commented on this a couple weeks back, but my post seems to have disappeared! That's the third time that's happened to me in the past couple of months. Anyway, I just wanted to chime in and tell you that this really turned out beautifully! The remix sounds fantastic, and the composition and playing by both you and Rik, is really superb. Judging from your last few posts, you guys really make a spectacular team! Wonderful job! Bob

Hmmm.... The performance is really great. I really like the way your styles work together. I'm not liking the mix at all, though. It's sounding really muddy to me. (Perhaps it's just me and my set up??? ) I think it has something to do with the piano vs guitar having trouble finding their own sonic space.

Thanks, Jim. Yeah, I learned a bit about that from Danny on our other new one. Maybe I'll see what I can do with this one when I get home next week. We're in your neck of the woods this week. :) (K/W area)

Good morning Janet. I think this piece will become my favorite of your compositions (yours and Rik's). It is full, complete, and full of emotion. The guitar accompaniment was very nice. Well done Rik. Best regards, Lance

VERY NICE.... it's got a smooth sound with the piano... but the guitar has enough high end definition in it, that i think it could stand to be panned more centered.... bring up your 2-3khz on the piano/strings, and let it have a bit more clarity. and let your percussion track be louder as well, it's just a bit too subdued. beautiful playing.
