nero doesn't have a trial version available right now so i googled for something else and found ISO Recorder Power Toy.

i burned the image file to disk just fine but i don't see anything when i open the cd folder. ???

i've never messed with image files before so i'm clueless without help.

thx!

You never worked with hardware-synths?
I think it's no work and hazzle to save a project even with rewire. rewire isn't dead and it'll not for a long time i think...the more system overhead argument isn't right, it depends on the vsti/dxi you're using.

No I have never used hardware stuff and would never want to. I never said rewire was dead, just that it is antiquated and that VSTi and DXi offer a better method of dealing with what rewire does. Rewire definitely adds more overhead...it is the nature of linking two separate programs together as opposed to running a plugin within one application...Windows has to do more work handling the programs as separate entities (managing memory space, threads etc).

Anyway, this is my feeling and if others are excited/thrilled or whatever about Rebirth and Rewire, then that's fine...it won't change my feelings and I am sure my views won't change other people's feelings... *shrug*

more than what? again: it depends on the plugs you're using.

You are misinterpreting what I am saying: I am trying to say that if, in this case Rebirth, were programmed to run as a DXi or VSTi then it would use less system overhead than it does using Rewire. I guess the only way to prove this would be for someone who has FLStudio to create a test project in that and compare CPU usage in Sonar when running FLStudio as DXi, VSTi and via Rewire using that project...I would expect the CPU usage of the Rewire version to be higher than that of the DXi and VSTi versions...

The only time I have encountered this problem is when the image has either not burnt correctly or where it hasn't 'closed' the session properly...if it is the first one, then CD is a write off; the second one can be sorted by burning a small file onto the disk (if it will let you) which can make sure that it closes the CD properly....this probably isn't very clear, but I can't think how better to word it...

Your other alternative is to download something like Alcohol 120% which will install a virtual CD drive and allow you to install/use the image without burning it to CD....I'd recommend going this route, especially as Rebirth will check for the CD from time to time and this saves you from messing with an actual disk...

Sorry, but I have no idea...I have never had it do anything like that to me....as far as Windows is concerned on my computer, it is just another CD drive and treats it as such...

Well, to add to the fire - anyone who owns reBirth One - you're screwed and not eligable for upgrade. I got a rather snide email back from Propellerhead stating just as much. I have to say it leaves a sour taste in my mouth, so to speak.

Well, I decided to beat them at their own game. Rebirth is quickly falling in price on the few online vendors that have it left. It will arrive at my doorstep today, and I WILL upgrade to Reason for 1/3 the price by the end of the week. And then I'll have some rewire goodness to P5, Woot!

Could be a fault...perhaps you can't register a discontinued product so you can't buy the reason upgrade. hope it will work for you...

Nah, they specifically said they don't support Rebirth One since it was distributed by steinberg. Nevermind the fact Propellerhead created it , and it's simply ReBirth that was distributed by Steinberg, they reject it's existence. I'm pretty upset with the way I was treated too, thus i have no guilt for subverting their pricing scheme.

Rebirth One was a low-price rebirth version when it came out. it was not the full rebirth 2.01! it has only 1 drum-machine and no rewire, rebirth one was a rip-off from the first rebirth version.
i think if you buy rebirth now and try to register it, it won't work because the product is discontinued. i keep one's fingers crossed for you but i fear you will be dissapointed.

You saw this?

"September 1, 2005 ReBirth is dead, long live ReBirth! Ladies and Gentlemen, we hereby announce that ReBirth is officially discontinued."
