This is really fantastic - well done.

I saw Obama's picture and thought I saw "Bimbo" next to his picture and though WTF - it said Timbo.

Oh well - nice tune anyway.

Well done Tim, while not my favorite from you it's still a very good song and excellent mix.  I liked the vocal treatment fit the song really well I thought and your performance and groove was great, got my foot tappin' along.

tim, great tune. great "colors". i'm new here and at computer recording in general and, i find your stuff really encouraging and inspirational. song structure, arrangement and production goodies. worth studying imho. and yeah, there's nothing left in my pocket for them to grab. but that wont stop them from trying. thanks for letting me know that this stuff is DOABLE with patience and imagination.

Hey Tap. Thanks man. Yea, I did have fun with it:) It all came pretty easy which is unusual. Actually I wrote it in the car.

Thanks Dan, Glad you liked it even though you didn't:) Thanks for posting.

Thanks Mr. Pogue. Appreciate it. Glad to see your back.

Hey James. Wow, "encouraging and inspirational"..  That's very kind of you to say. I just do what I do. you know, you're the only one to comment on the actual jist of the tune. Thanks for that. Glad you 'got it'. Not sure what you mean that this stuff is 'doable'. If you mean making music with computers, well, yea, just takes a lot of work usually  I think. This one came together pretty easily I think. Don't know why. Anyway, Wow, the Valentine tune ? It's not up anywhere right now. Why are you interested in hearing it if I may ask??

EXCELLENT mix and stereo field on this piece. Love the arrangement and the bass line is killer. Love the bullhorn effect on the lead vox and the way your harmonies blend. GREAT tune/performance and mix. KUDOS, Tim!

Tim - that sounds great.  I agree with James about your "spaciousness" in mixing.  Your mix is not cluttered or noisy.  Very tasteful and balanced.  I like the low fi you've got on the vocals.

Re:Reach 2011/05/23 10:54:23 (permalink)
hey tim. about valentine's song. it was just the first song of yours that i had heard. i then got so busy listening to all the stuff on your soundclick page that by the time i was ready for another listen to the valentine tune i couldn't find it. would very much like to hear it again though. and by doable i meant...that a guitarist with a little bit of keyboard ability can begin to learn how to make all the sounds he's hearing in his head.  the success you're able to achieve at this (and i don't mean to suggest that your keyboard abilities are as limited as mine) IS inspiring.  something to shoot for!

Tim, I don't often have the time to stop back for an encore performance of many of the extraordinary tunes that turn up here in Songs, but after watching HBO's "Too Big to Fail" the other night, I had to get back for another shot of Reach.  Great tune, man!
