Doktor Avalanche Windows 10 certified?
I don't know about 'certified', but REAPER supports Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. The Windows version also works well with WINE.
REAPER supports all OS X versions from 10.5* to 10.10.

Been so long since I've used Reaper all I've been doing since about 4.1 is updating. Now that 5 is out I think I'll stay with what I have and make this the second of many programs to stop updating. First one was PT9HD.

My understanding is that if one jumps in now and purchases either license for 5.0, it includes any & all updates right through to version 6.99. That's pretty cool. Even if the price was a lot higher, that would still be a good deal.

After tinkering with this I got me a copy. Not going to replace Sonar but the time streching and pitch shifting possibilities were something I'd been wanting to have. Sure there are quite a few plugins for that, but not with the functionality of the Reaper implementation. Just what I wanted.

Pitch shift is over the top if you are a keyboard player, and significant improvements in the ver 5 release. Went for my $60 license without hesitation once an issue with pitch shift was fixed. Background, you want to pitch shift a synth if not a native function. You can go to the traditional options of something like Elastique. This resamples and adds both degrading artifacts and latency into the shift. Reaper allows the option of a fixed mod wheel shift which detunes with no latency or resampling artifacts. Don't know of any other DAW that has this function. Brilliant approach. This is an example of a concept that was so simple, it went below the radar of every other commercial product available anywhere. John

Should probably mention again that a core set of valuable Reaper vst plugs is available for free from ths link. http://www.reaper.fm/reaplugs/ Can't say enough good about most of them. Very powerful tools compatible with Sonar. The unique pitch shift approach is accessed in the ReaControlMidi plugin and makes this advantage available in Sonar. Only thing needed is something like P&M chainer to place the plug in front of a synth. Haven't found out how to do this native in Sonar yet. Doesn't mean there is not a way. John

It is pretty easy to setup ReaControlMidi in X3 or newer. Older versions would require setting the plug-in up as a synth. It may also run afoul of some routing bugs in the older versions.

I really, really like Reaper and I WANT to love it. The inconsistencies in commands/menus and the horrid UI are what brought me back to Sonar after an 8.5 thru X2 hiatus. I got back in at X3e and haven't looked back. I'm keeping Reaper up to date for one off use of feature such as those discussed here, but Sonar is my main squeeze. IMO, if Justin ever springs for a pro to design a proper UI and generally clean things up, Reaper will be a serious contender.

The routing is the same in X2 as it would be in newer versions. The differences are a few bug fixes and how never versions handle MIDI I/O in effects. For X2: - configure the plug-in as a synth (this is the main visible difference between X2 and newer versions)
- insert the plug-in as you would any synth. In this case, I like to use an instrument track
- enable MIDI output on the plug-in (either use the option in the Insert Soft Synth Options dialog or right-click the plug-in in the synth rack.
- enable input echo on the track
The plug-in is now available as an input source for any MIDI or instrument track.

Can't see these guys selling out any time soon, but you never know... Not the greatest fan of the new GUI. Note however from their website under resources, there is a myriad of different themes. The GUI itself is infinitely customizable as far as colors and some rearrangement of the buttons, and ability to create/insert home made gifs. Not much can be done though if the overall layout isn't what you like. Totally awesome program. The Rewire communication between Sonar and Reaper taps into the best elements of each, since either program is light years ahead of the other in some aspects. John

Our work flows and needs so individual that nothing fits all. Sonar and Reaper all I need with the help of a few plugins. Times I've had to use them both synchronized together. Should add that on top of Rewire, both programs sync and communicate by midi clock and SMTP data. Either can be set up as master or slave. Another note about the free Reaper vst pack. The gate, the mono and stereo comp are excellent. ReaEQ is my go to eq unit for guitar. Forget if ReaDelay is any good. ReaControlMidi is killer. Check out ReaFir. Major focus on the noise reduction function. Works like Adobe Audition. Define a noise profile and subtract it out of the mix. So many tools, so little time. John
