I'm a HUGE Johnny A fan. I've seen him once in concert and I've played all his CDs a zillion times. I have his DVD too. When I got back into music, what... almost 10 years ago now. I wanted to be just a jazz player. But I kept finding myself drawn to my own material which included all my musical influences. Johnny inspired me because.. He plays what he wants and it's all genres, sometimes all at once. He's like: "This is what I do, this is what I like, take it or leave it." I had an ephifany. It set me free. I'm not a jazz player or anything else other than a lover of music. And Johnny is one heck of a guitar player. But then so is Scotty Anderson. I'm "adequate" guitar player.. and you know.. I'm OK with that. I can't at least not embarrass myself and there is nothing I love to do more. Daryl

How come when I plug my guitar into my POD it sounds nothing like this!?! Oh yeah, I remember now: I really can't play! Best thing I have heard on here in quite some time.

Alegria: Hi JC. Thanks for stopping by! Glad you liked it. darylcrowley: But then so is Scotty Anderson. When you referenced Scotty Anderson in your previous response for some reason I was thinking of Scotty Moore ( which would also be a huge, albeit undeserved, compliment ). After reading this post it dawned on me that I didn't know who Scotty Anderson is...well, I do now. Wow, what an amazing player! Thanks for making me aware of him. jamesyoyo: How come when I plug my guitar into my POD it sounds nothing like this!?! How come when I plug in my DAW my mixes sound nowhere near as good as yours? Thanks very much, James.

Hey Gary, well I can see and hear what the ruckus is all about, man, that was some fine playin' there. And, yeah, the drums did fit in perfectly. No crits here, as the mix and production were top notch.

philz: Hi Phil. Thank you for listening and commenting. I'm glad that you liked the tune and I really appreciate the kind words. marcos69: Hi Mark. Thanks very much for checking out the song. You are a truly great player and I appreciate the compliment. And yes, that's me playing ( well, struggling with ) the steel.

Back in the mid-70s I was on a tour of the Rocky Mt. states. We did a pile of Eagles, Loggins and Messina, Poco, etc. I played pedal steel about half the show at the time. I haven't played the steel since the late 70s. I would love to have one again but not sure I'm up to going through that learnig curve again. Steel is an instrument with a lot of sonic potential, it's also an instrument that's abused a lot. I love to hear steel used in the non-traditional style such as jazz or ambient, not so much as "blues slide", and of course traditional old country is just fine. I have a couple of Scotty Anderson's CDs but I also like those youtube videos where hes just jamming in a music store. He's like Johnny A (except he's technically better). Those guys have a cornicopia of licks. They use a lick and throw it away, never to be repeated. Any good licks I have, I use them all the time thereafter. My "riff bench" is not that deep. Yes, Scotty Anderson, is one of the best guys few people have heard. Daryl

darylcrowley: not sure I'm up to going through that learnig curve again Man, that's the truth...steel guitar is tough, at least for me. I worked with a real good steel player for a while and, although he sounded great, it seemed to me that he was just sitting, staring at his hands...I figured "Hell, I can do that" and bought a used one. Whew, was I in for a surprise I worked at that thing for quite a while but never really did get a handle on it...it's a great sound, tho...
