Reinstall Win7_Then Install 10
I am going to do a clean install of Win 7, then update to Win 10. I have 3 SSD's. Sys, Samples, Audio. When I re-install Win7 and install the vsti's, what's the best way to go about it? Will it just make sense to let the program overwrite the samples already installed? Or is there another way I am not seeing? And does anyone have good advise on how to install Dim Pro so that the samples are on the sample drive? Or is just as good to install Rap Pro and work with that? Any comments or help would be appreciated.

There's no need to install Win 7 first in order to upgrade to Win 10. You can clean-install Win 10 directly, and it'll just ask you for a qualifying Win 7 product key. Save yourself some hassle.

Good idea. I am guessing I need an updated Win 10 install package to do this? All I have now is the original one d/l when Win 10 came out.

You just need your Win7 install key. Download the Win10 media creator. Create the same version as your Win7 copy (Home or Pro). Install Win10 and authorize using your Win7 key.

When it comes to DPro/Rpro installation time maybe this post will help http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3400059You will need to create a few folders by hand prior to installing. Creating the directory junction before installing DPro will cause the installer to place samples on the sample drive. I would install DPro before RPro.

Update: Have Win10 installed. Went just like ya'll said it would. Clean install, I selected no product key (at the start of installation) and installed Win10 Pro. Activated with Win7 product key after install complete with no problems. Thanks for the help on the Win 10 install. Steve I will look at that thread. Thanks for the advice. Now for some honesty. And I am only saying this to hopefully help others. (I backed up my system with Acronis True Image before I started any of this.) When I went to install Win10 it kept telling me that I couldn't install to a MBR volume. I spent over two hours trying to get my SSD to be the right type so Windows would install. I won't go into details about all what I did, but all that's needed to pass on to others is when you get the message that Win10 can't install to a MBR volume, if you look at the options, there is a red X for delete. Yep just delete the damn thing and Win10 will create what it needs!! Make sure you have a back up in case something goes wrong. In the process now of installing Acronis True Image to back up this clean install.

Update: Got all CW stuff installed. Dim Pro and Rap pro let me put the samples where I wanted without much trouble. There are some older expansion packs not being picked up by Rap Pro, but work in Dim Pro. Installed all of ToonTrack and Overloud stuff. Which was made much easier now that I am connected. Took a break after an all day thing. Man this is a PITA!
