Release date for stable "non-quick-fix" release version
The launch of X2 has some similarities to the X1 launch, in that there were some satisfied users, but mostly dissatisfied ones. X2 seems to be better, with fewer nasty and emotive entries in the forum, so one could surmise from this that X2 has gone smoother, and there are fewer bugs and issues; hopefully. I for one would like to ask Cakewalk to disclose WHEN they intend to release the next upgrade which hopefully will be stable and bug-free? Everybody has paid their money, and wants to get on with using the software WITHOUT worrying about whether it is going to crash or not. You know.... it IS possible to write bug-free software. You just have to set that as a goal and stick to it. Regards, Hijole Kid (pronounced ee- hole-ay)

I'd say that there are significantly more satisfied users than unsatisfied. when you consider that many who have posted have had issues resolved by the forum support. many posts concern new user questions unrelated to SONAR stability many posts concern some ProChannel bugs which have already been addressed with a quick fix. quite some posts are related to other non-problem issues and lastly when you consider the total SONAR software unit sales that this forum represents a tiny minority of both happy and unhappy users. And from personal experience the X2 release is bt far a superior effort on the part of Cakewalk than X1 and any previous release both in support and software performance.

..never the less; there's alot of issues with X2 that cakewalk need to fix asap. I had to go back to X1 yesterday to quickly replace all BREVERB and X2 stuff and make a new mix, because X2 had screwed up the quad-eq settings... The lowpass/hipass-frequencies had been set to max on every channel which resulted in complete silence on all 93 tracks.. If I closed the project and opened again the eqs where back at this stupid setting.. I had to sit last night for several hours to replace non-X2 fx in X1 and mix everything again to make the deadline (that's today) I find new issues with X2 all the time and there are a few serious ones that have forced me to do many hours work more than one time... No, no DAW is bug free, bit this is NOT a reason for not trying to fix the ones that are there... Jag bryr mig inte om de flesta människor har inga problem. De som har problem spelade också för produkten och vill att det ska fungera korrekt. ..and yes, I do repport the bugs I find.

Sorry to hear Loptec, and was not dissing those who have had problems, just get a little tired of the hysteria with every new release. I think many wiser and more experienced than me have said on here to save "mission critical" work for your older, more stable "Devil you know" version, until bugs are worked out in new versions. But also, some bugs are configuration+hardware+OS specific so even though the Bakers have done their best to make a version bug free there will always be bugs to due specific combinations of the above factors. That is what inspired my comment. I apologize if I offended you; that was not my intent. Good luck and best wishes!

I'd say that there are significantly more satisfied users than unsatisfied. +1. For anyone that was around for the initial X1 release it should be fairly apparent that X2 is on a different level with the number of issues reported here. There have also been a lot of positive feedback for X2's features, even if imperfect. That's something that wasn't quite as apparent with X1's release.

It's quite frustrating though when these kinds of things happen. I can partially agree about sticking with X1 for the important work until X2 is stable.. But on the other hand; If everyone's doing that, noone will find the bugs.. I understand that it's impossible to release a software that just works flawlessly from day one. But it doesn't make it less frustrating when hours of work goes into the bin. And getting replies like "nothing's bug free" doesn't help much with the already built up frustration over the lost work.

OMG! Time-out here..., let me sit down for a sec. or two. You mean that all this time I've been calling "Bub" "Bud" without ever realizing that his real alias was "Bub" all along? I'm not sure I can live this down man. Wow. Sorry Bub for calling you Bud all this time. Mind you, it would be easier to keep calling you "Bud" (not sure why) but I'll make an effort from now on. I'm still sold though because of Bub, bless his heart.

I am of the same opinion as Bapu, and that is why I started this thread. X2 supposedly was not a major new release, but a "refinement" of X1, with some new features and freebees. But unfortunately, we seem now to be facing a similar situation to X1, in that the "big buildup" with all of the free giveaways if you paid in advance, etc. etc. has turned out to be a bit of a "have" , as they say in New Zealand. Further, I clearly was either misled, or "misled" myself about BReverb; I thought that since it was avialable also in VST I could use it on other DAWs, like Reaper which I use regularly. But NO, it is locked to X2. I feel a bit cheated, as BReverb plus the giveaways was one of the reasons I coughed up the bucks in advance. Anybody else feel this way?

I'm OK here. I'll survive, somehow. This forum gives one an insight into what Business faces every day- angry customers with very minor grievances. There was one guy on another thread who was pretty furious that the Sonar startup splash screen has a little flicker sometimes. I mean, it's a bug, and is known, why the hell hasn't it been fixed.

Hijole Kid .... You know.... it IS possible to write bug-free software. You just have to set that as a goal and stick to it. Regards, Hijole Kid (pronounced ee- hole-ay) Right - AND that includes testing every variant of said software with every conceivable combination of hardware, operating system, application software, utilities, system problems, ID10T errors, etc., etc. that exists in the world-wide market for said software. Reasonable in a "controlled environment"? Sure. Reasonable in the "real world"? Uh, no....

Exactly Rivers. I'd go one step further and say sure it would only be reasonable in a controlled environment if you spent 75% of your budget on testing. Sorry it totally annoys me people claim to know things when they don't. Instead they assume and therefore they think they are right (urghh!).

These threads always frustrate me. They always seem like a political debate, it's about winning the argument, and not the "issue" In fact, I've been through a few of these and nobody made me buy the update, but I think of POV to cosider: When X1 was released, I got the groove 3 video. Audiosnap worked for "his" version. Not only was it broke in the release, it took quite some time to get a fix. Can you not understand that kind of frustration?
