I watched the main video, and saw the few seconds of talking about how the inspector makes editing properties of multiple clips easier. I don't really see how it's faster for editing a single clip, though.
You're right. I said so in my second post on this thread. Post 15. The one with the link.

I am not in disagreement with you on anything. I think you have a very reasonable approach.
This is getting a little tiresome, but I will try one more time. The video shows many things. It says they're "easier" in X1. I have not counted keystrokes/clicks for all of them, but in the specific case of renaming clips, which is what this thread is about, X1 is not faster in any situation. When renaming multiple clips, X1 needs the same number of actions as 8.5 after you've clicked twice to get to the Clips tab of the Inspector.

Not having the modal properties window open and close with every edit may seem more elegant and facile, but it's not actually "faster" by the objective measure of how many clicks/keystrokes it takes to complete the rename operation(s) and get your display back where you started.

In Windows, double-click usually means "execute" or "open" rather then "edit properties" (which is right click).

Currently, my Sonar is setup so that double-clicking a MIDI clip opens it in the piano roll view. To me, that makes sense, and I use that feature all the time.

If you change double-click behavior to mean "edit properties", then you make it harder to a MIDI clip in the piano roll view, right?

Why would one do that for each clip? Once the inspector is up and set to clips it stays there. There is no reason to click on another tab. The inspector stays there. All you need to do select another clip and rename it.

John, please quit being so... John, and re-read post #1.
