[Req] Sonar needs to have the option to be able to record more than one input per track

Currently when you want to record a track you can only select one mono or stereo input per track.

Is there a possibility to add the option to select more than one input per track for recording? (Like inputs 1,3,5,8, Dig1 on Track 3?)

This option would cool if we want to record more than one input at a time to one track.

Why would you want to do that?

Just record to seperate tracks (mono or stereo), and then bounce them down to stereo track or whatever. A bus may come in handy to group the outputs together.

The new patch points should be arriving next month which will enable this, but I am in agreement that this removes (or significantly hobbles) the ability to mix in a post-production environment. I have a friend who sends me files he offloads from a 4-track, and one can only do so much with something baked in right up the middle.

Having unlimited tracks available is a colossal advantage of a DAW environment.

Actually It's not about recording, it's about monitoring five different instruments through only one track of echo, instead of five different open echos to monitor five different instruments. The more tracks with open echos to monitor, the more the noise base will increase. So the option is to have only one open track echo to control the monitoring of all assigned five instruments when practicing. It's more about control of one volume for five different instruments when just monitoring.

When I'm ready to record I'll switch them back to individual tracks.

When I just want to monitor the user can have all 5 instruments assigned to one Track for easy one track volume control.

Who told you new Patch Points will be arriving next month?  That's a great idea.

It was initially slated for the Hopkinton release, I believe, but was delayed for work on supporting code. I would expect it to be forthcoming as it was already on the slate.

The "Virtual Patch Points" are at the top of the list on the Rolling Updates page for "In Development."

I recommend heading off expectations about when the feature arrives. It may - or may not - be in next month's update. But I certainly don't count on it. I see it as a major feature that needs baking for the right amount of time.

Yup, and expect it to take another month to clear regression issues after release.

taking the time to do something right is one thing... however, the rolling updates really are great for refining an idea and tweaking it based on user feedback... the idea of "this is crap" which Avalanche seems to enjoy spouting about everything that is just not perfect is disingenuous... Personally I like getting a roughed out idea that can be quickly refined and updated per our experience... I guess it's always the glass half empty vs half full mentality.  But the avalanche of negativity is just unnecessary... the mark of a small ego yearning for attention.
