Guilty....you've already paid for it and they are a great group wanting to help users with their issues with Cakewalk products.

charlyg
I used an i3 laptop with no issues, until I spilled water on it.
How about doing what I did?
I tried to go up AND down from what I thought the latency should be. It turned out, I needed to add to  the round trip for it to work correctly. Instead of 7.8, I think it was 14.whatever... I fooled around with buffer size, sample rate, etc.

Thanks charlyg...

But I'm a bit leary of spilling water on the machine to fix it. ...and this is an i3 on a desktop...

I've changed the ASIO latency through every setting they have from 64-2048... I've individually and jointly changed the read and write buffer from 256 down to 64 and up to 1024

I've disabled every extra audio driver in device manager as deep as the system devices as well... I disabled the WLAN card and everything Bluetooth...

I also changed the dropout value in aud.ini from 250-750 and even tried making it shorter going down to 150

I've optimized the machine for performance... Disabled anti-virus... Disabled all cpu choking in bios and power settings...

I don't know to do at this point... It's a plain Dell. Nothing unusual about it...

Thanks again...

Yes... I know they've always been there offering genuine help...

Must be my pride as I've only done that once in 25(?) years and that was for a purchase issue during the first release of Platinum!

I guess that speaks loads for how good their stuff is that I've always been able to make it run!

Hi Gang...

I thought I'd post an update on this situation if anyone is interested...

I bought a FireWire interface and installed it as well as a second drive for audio...

Installed and connected the Studiolive 24.4.2 and the machine is working very well...

I brought the Audiobox 1818VSL back to my place and re-installed it on my main DAW where I was using it with a Soundscape AD/DA via ADAT for an addional 8 line I/o before the Studiolive... Should work out fine using the 24 I/o for the band recordings and the VSL for me to use here... In a way better as it does 96k and the Studiolive only 44/48...

I don't yet know why that little machine was having so much trouble with the VSL as it runs fine on 3 other machines I've installed it on... Using the same cable too...

Go figure?

Thanks for all the assistance as it really fine tuned the machine and optimize it' slow power... Should be fine for tracking and I'll mix here in the studio...
