Just a note:  Ripple editing would be a great thing if it ripples everything (tempo, automation, meters etc.)  Otherwise I can pretty much do everything else already with what SONAR has. 

 
The DAW in the Kenny Gioia video does move all Tempo, Time signature, and automation events in sync with the Clips.

My question is, are the little bits that cross the bar lines retained in the clip or are they cut?
Arrangement editing: for instance, in section A you have MIDI notes that cross over the bar line to
Section B. You delete Section B, and C & D slide over to fill up the hole made by B. 
 
Are those MIDI notes in A which drifted into B now truncated (split)?

 
Just to clarify, Ripple Editing is NOT the same thing as an Arranger Track.  Any slicing or cutting of Clips is managed by the user.  The DAW in the video has a separate function called Regions that implement the Arranger Track functionality. 
 
Since we don't have the specifics of the future Sonar implementation, we will have to wait and see how the Bakers implement Ripple Editing in Sonar.

Ripple editing is common with video editing software. It opens up space and closes spaces automatically when you insert and delete material. It basically solves a lot of the issues people have when doing arrangements in SONAR with inserting, deleting, or moving large blocks of data.
 
Sony Vegas has an excellent ripple editing implementation. If SONAR's is even close, it will be very, very welcome.

Ripple editing would be SO SWEET also for editing multiple drum tracks.
 
Moving hits on the beats would be a piece of Cakewalk: Split the clips by an off hit, ctrl-drag the end of the clip until the hit falls onto the beat, and the rest of the audio keeps in perfect sync and order. Find the next off-beat hit and repeat.
