Ahhh Sting is back again ! Sorry, but he sounds even more like the man on this one - at least to my ears - also reminds me of Gotye, but that's prolly 'cos to me he sounds a lot like like the young Mr Sumner too. That's a good thing though IMO. Really nice voice. I agree with mgh's comments re mixing the vox.

The drum intro/transition threw me a bit to start with, but I think it's just because of it being so unexpected. Nicely done all round.

This is just beautiful, guys!  :)  Wonderful!  Great tune and playing and singing!

You might even consider making another song out of this one...i.e., continue the slow ballad and have Tim write and sing another verse or two.  Cause that just ended WAY too soon.

Thanks James!

Thanks Paulo, glad you liked it. I will revisit the vocals, I think Mark has a point there.

Thank you Janet, that's kind of you. Funnily enough, Tim has already written a full song based on the short 'cameo' he did here, he got really inspired by this project.

Always a treat to hear Tim sing. Nice work all around gents. I thought the drums needed a bump and a little more clarity, but other than that, this is good stuff.

Loved it immensely. The plaintive singing against those chords was just heaven. That creamy synth lead was super pro.

The mix bothered me though...and I say that cuz your stuff is usually just perfect and critic-proof...but I could hear you struggling with this one. The vocal sounded super mono and kinda hollowed out. The acoustic guitar was way too prominent in several sections where another element should have taken lead. And the drums sounded like they were locked in the same lifeless room as poor Tim!

Anyhoo, great tune.

James,

Top notch, really like the song and performances.  I thought the mix was good too, maybe bump the vox a tad..  Guitars are maybe a bit out front of everything else too.  Really like this song.

James - you really know your stuff, I did struggle with this mix. I wanted to 'tone down' the uptempo section as it was getting way too 'rock' and asked Larry to do some acoustic lead instruments there. I guess I didn't balance the sounds too well. As for the vocal, I think Mark had it right, loud enough, but not enough 'body'. Got some work to do...

Thanks Mark (no999), appreciate the listen and comments.

Mark (Clean) - thank you muchly.

Hi, James,

What can I say?  Absolutely fantastic songwriting and arrangement, and stellar performances delivered by all three of you!  I'm on my second listen.  Beautiful, fluid melodies, amazing vocals, and great instrumental performances.

Wonderful work, boys!

Hey lads, long time, no lurk.
What can I say, I've missed me some SMB!  You guys have done it again!
The acoustic intro sounds wonderful on the cans.  The entire mix too.  I'll have to listen later in the studio.  Wonderful vox from Tim!
Really like the elect guitar and mandolin together.  The key change where the synth joins in is simply superb.

Congrats on another fine piece of music.

Really, it's monotonous. I mean, the fact that we're running out of superlatives to describe you guys. Tim voice is tailor made for your sound. Larry, are you playing drums too? It wouldn't surprise me. Soaring lead guitar, James, you sound good. Clean mix. Just another in a long series of terrific songs.
