Sir William Reaper 4 which is doing exactly what I need and with a lot less fuss.
indeed it can, and REAPER 5 is just around the corner, looking forward to that :)
But still no VST3 support for v5. Plus, I just want to make music, not play with my DAW. Reaper has a lot of good things going for it; it's just too raw for me.
I think you are mistaken, on all accounts, and therefore perhaps, on more accounts than you realise :)

I love this. Sonar has a problem, Noel Fixes it within a week. How cool is that! But then we have ingrates arguing over an inferior DAW. Please take that elsewhere. I'm having a hard time holding back and saying what I really think about you.

Sir William I have also found out that for the price of a monthly sub to SPlat, I can buy Reaper 4 which is doing exactly what I need and with a lot less fuss. I'm pretty sure if Michael Hoover had $59 million in his personal account from selling Winamp to AOL in a $400 million dollar deal, SONAR would cost less as well.
Also, for a reason I have yet to find out, Reaper also seems to impart a lot less noise into my tracks. If you record into SONAR with the interface input turned down, the only noise that shows up on a track is residual noise from the interface output. SONAR is not capable of adding noise into your tracks. What you do within SONAR is capable of adding noise to tracks.
Hi Craig. When I mentioned that other program in recent posts I was, I'm sure you know, just pointing a straight line to an alternate solution because the OP seemed bound and determined to not accept any of the ones available within Sonar. With respect to preference of one to the other I really don't have one. I say different crayons for different drawings. That said, something in your quote pinged me. I have many times commented to myself that Cockos' approach to it's software seemed, to me, to have more to do with mission than money. Thank you for the clarification. Mel

Actually it didn't take a week. There was a alpha fix created by Noel straightaway that's already been tried and found successfully. It will take more work to redo the installer and accompanying notes and then do the release.

I have tons of VST synced plugins (Effectrix, LFOTool) and yes it goes crazy with fast bounce. All the plugins are in sync with themselves but not with the beat :-0 I am going to roll back Erik.

Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk] Note that this is a "loose exe" so you will need to copy the proper flavor (x64/86 or Platinum/Pro/Artist) to your SONAR programs folder. If you test it let me know if it works.
Noel, This is better but there are other glitches with this version, the tracks with Effectrix and LfoTool have actual audio glitches, something is probably wrong with fast bounce and effectrix. Lfotool sounds fine this time. Update: actually something messed up Effectrix settings in between, I updated to build 30 in the control center, and now the rendering is all fine. there are actual digital artifacts in the rendering, and effectrix looses a setting all the time with this version. Rolling back to everett update 1 Erik.

Hi Erik, its pretty unlikely that there is any difference with this build compared to everett. Its now doing exactly what everett did when fast bouncing. If there are problems they are preexisting and possibly with the plugins. i.e. if it works with one tempo based plugin it should work with all others.

Yes looks indeed like the plugins are acting this time, the digital noise is on the everett bounce as well... need to investigate...

I too have had problems with Fast Bounce since Foxboro updadte. Some tracks get shifted in time and one soft synth played cut-off notes. Come to think of it, it has a couple tempo changes. No oversampling in my project. Audible Bounce works fine.

PS I posted without reading the whole thread and some of the griping. I, for one, am so happy to be using SONAR Platinum and updating it when the fresh code comes out. If there is a temporary problem, I know it will be fixed and in the meantime I always have X3 installed to back me up, or I can use a wrkaround or do a roll-back. And now Noel has a fix. What other DAW company is this responsive to users? My loyalty to Cakewalk since version 3.1 has always been rewarded. I remember when we used to be happy to "multitrack" by bouncing mono tracks on Sony "sound-on-sound" stereo tape recorders and then moved up to Tascam portastudios. It's a lot like life. Enjoy what you got.

No offense Alex. This is a very obtuse/brusque "reply". Do you own/use Reaper? I was asking Susan who i know is a Reaper user (in addition to SPlat) and i have a genuine interest in Reaper's development in.that area. I also own SPlat and have concerns about a divergence in the direction the product is going relative to what i would like to see. If your "next thread" comment was intended to be in any way helpful please provide a link. If it was just an attempt to play forum police, I'll be advised to ignore - i thought you stepped out of the moderator role? Can't have it both ways.

You asked if staff view was in a release state. I answered staff view has been released. Then I realised you were talking about Reaper and not Sonar so many apologies. And how the heck we get from fast bounce to Reaper Staff View in this topic ... well never mind. But how on earth you got into a moderator discussion from this is clearly is your hangup, I didn't criticise your post. One of the many reasons I got out of being a mod was I got bored of reading these sort of cheap shots, it's clear I still have to suffer it even after I have left being a mod, so please go ahead and put me on ignore. No offence BTW. (Edit to put in initial quote)

Brando Have they got staff view to a release state yet?
Doktor Avalanche Staff view has been released... Next thread..
Brando No offense Alex. This is a very obtuse/brusque "reply". Do you own/use Reaper?
Doktor Avalanche I was asking Susan who i know is a Reaper user (in addition to SPlat) and i have a genuine interest in Reaper's development in.that area.
Your reply added nothing to the discussion. Your close, "next thread" was heavy handed and intended to close any possible dialog. I asked a question that followed the general meander of the thread. I understand (and sympathized at the time you gave up the forum host responsibility) - in this case at least, i elected to remind you that your behaviour was that of someone trying to take over and tell someone else when they were done talking. If you've had prkblems jn that area in the past, i rest my case. Next Thread.

Brando Have they got staff view to a release state yet?
No, I think the last thing I read was that it might not make the initial release of REAPER 5, but would more than likely be in 5.1. ( I am almost certain that Staff View was the featrure that I read that about, but I could be mistaken, as there are quite a number of interesting things ahead, to me Staff View is not one of them, I don't really care for it personally, but there you go)

so are we seeing a new pattern - monthly releases with intra-monthly patches/bug-fixes? i'm not sure i could keep up with that!
