I am a little suspicious  here

lifetime updates!!!

Doesthis mean In a couple of years sonar Platinium will change to Sonar quantum 1 and start charging all over again!!!!!

They would need to take "Sonar" out of the title if they want to get away with that:

What’s included in lifetime updates?

Any core features, enhancements, and fixes that we introduce for future versions of SONAR.

Hey, that has sure fixed the theme to an extent, but could you perhaps do something like this?

Please note the track highlighting based on track colours as well as the overall desaturation and gamma correction. The current oversaturated, overcontrasted theme does not help the eyes to rest at all, especially in the night when the the environment lighting is also dimmed. Compare the current Tungsten and my suggestion in Photoshop CC with its standard colours, and you'll see how yours stands out. And these guys know a little more about making it comfortable to work with images, I believe.

Helene, I love your workup!  I'd call it "soft tongue"!

Well done.  As the theme creator appears to be close to release, I look forward to "shareable" awesomeness from fellow humans like you.

I have to say I rather like the coloured channel borders in console idea as well. I thought I'd prefer coloured fader caps, but I think this is possibly an even more elegant solution. And I think the slightly reduced contrast is a bit easier on the eyes as well, without noticeably reducing visibility of selected elements.

Even better yet would be an overall contrast/colour sliders in Preferences like in several other software, including Studio One.

SONAR does have those sliders but (I think?) they just apply to the currently selected widget color.    So +1 to an "apply to all" check-box.    If you add it to the Feature Request forum I'd vote for it.

Yes I did a Feature Request here:
http://forum.cakewalk.com/FR-Overall-ContrastColour-Sliders-m3428492.aspx

I think it needs to be a separate "Appearance" page in Preferences, so it´s clearly a set of overall easy to use parameters. Better would be in "Theme" page, so it would be also per theme setting, but that page seems to be already crowded.

Having coloured strips makes it so much easier moving around large projects. The only thing I didn't like about the coloured strips before was that they had to be a pale version of the colour. I've always liked the look of the coloured strips in ProTools. They're coloured, but a dark shade. That is exactly what is needed here in Tungsten. Please ASAP give us a version of Tungsten with coloured strips, but dark colours to fit in with the dark theme.

You are almost there... BUT current active track highlight is gone in tungsten, or barely visible, it seems hardcoded so I cant change it in color settings, until you fix it, Im using mercury theme... Because "active track highlight" is more clear/visible there...

did I miss something, or do prochannel background and track background colors no longer match the desired track color but keep dark-greyish?

I think there is a lot of variability on this issue... would be nice to have a drop down menu to select among the following:
  • Bottom of strip colored only
  • Entire strip border colored
  • Actual strip colored
The photoshop lady showing a "border" colored strip had lots of good ideas.  I'm sure the bakers are aware of this.  I, like you... enjoyed the entire strip being colored but as I've used the new GUI I've come to like the calmer, more consistent color with edge coloring... but I DO like the idea of being able to toggle among the three above options.

Re: SONAR 2016.05 Update 1 now available June 05, 16 2:32 PM (permalink)
I was surprised by how much easier it was to work on the Tungsten theme.  Good job bakers! and I'm not a fan of dark themes!  My favorite was S8.5!

Interesting though, I went to the color menu under "Preferences" and there were four options.  Bright, Dark, Mono and Normal.  I selected the brighter option and my timelines disappeared, both in the track view and the midi editor (along with some other stuff)!  Are these two options not meant to work together?

There didn't appear to be a way to undo what I had done so I edited the colors where I could to make the timelines visible again.  It sure would be great if they were easier to see though.

+1 on Helene's idea!

100% for the look!
BUT: Is there any way to get the menu bar darker? If I am in full screen mode, it is such a nice UI, the light grey is a little bit "off topic"...

Or perhaps just make it an option so that those of us who prefer NOT to have the border would still be happy.

For sure options are best, and hopefully when the theme editor is ready for prime time we will have more of them. Personally I would prefer the dark-colour strips in the mockup in the first post here:

honestly, what's the problem of keeping the track "background" colours as they are in Mercury theme, just more darkish? without clearly distinctive tracks it's really unpleasant to work with

+1 on having either the darkish colors and/or the colored borders. In either of these variations,
a slider to increase or decrease the intensity and/or brightness, would cover a lot of users personal
preferences. One could have it darker or lighter as you like it.

The main beef I have with this theme is when I'm editing several vocals and have them in view. If I select one of them I can't really see the waveform very well, like I can with Mercury these. The clip gets washed out and almost blurry. There's no definition. So I've gotten where when I need to do this I switch back to Mercury. Will this be fixed? Do I need to report it?
