I don't only do midi only projects. I also do mixed midi and audio and just audio. With my midi only files I can get by using Sonar X3 until Cakewalk gets around to fixing the problem with Sonar Platinum. I will however, miss all the power of Sonar Platinum on integrated midi and audio projects. Just the fact that you mentioned that you will look into the problem is motivation enough for me to be patient.
I believe the easiest way to reproduce the problem is to produce some midi only tracks file in X3 adjusting the reverb and chorus knobs with different values for each track. Then save it as a midi file. Then, open it up with X3 and you will notice for each track the reverb and chorus settings are recalled also. Close the file then open it up in Platinum. You will notice that the reverb and chorus dials register zero (0) for each track selected. Look in the track view and the reverb and chorus settings are displayed as inline controllers with the values set.

I am unable to delete aux/patch points from the send submenu. Whenever I delete the sends, they still appear as assignable patches in sends menu, altjough the track itself (aux) is deleted.

One problem still persists: as I mentioned in this post, I prefer to always work with the Multiple Lanes view as Default. I have always worked with the Multiple Lanes view as default, which gives me an important overview mainly for VST instruments that use multiple simultaneous CCs. Now, even though I check this option in the PRV, every time I close PRV, this option goes back off. And then I'm forced to manually repeat this step all the time. The correct thing would be for Sonar to somehow memorize whether or not I want to open the Multiple Lanes PRV as default.

Are you the new Midi guy we have heard about Bob. Your short posts have been very reassuring. Can you look at the font colours for the next release too. In Mercury and Tungsten it's hard to read the active CC selector, but I noticed in Tungsten the Transform button is drawing from two Font colour pools, so maybe assign this CC selector to the same two I think the Active CC Selector should come from the 'Global Menu/View Menu text' pool

Ahh, looks like the Theme weren't updating and was stuck on the colour. I just noticed in the guide that had an orange tab, so must be Tungsten, but my Tungsten was showing dark grey  ReSterted Sonar, and now it shows blue for Merury, even when I change to Tungsten and my own themes.

Ok, so I don't need to close Sonar, just the current file/project to get the changes to stick. Anyone know what sets this colour. Having to experiment on my own theme, close the project and re-open to see if it changed is turning into a right b******e. Here's Tungeten showing Mercury's selector.

I couldn't get this work but then I found you have to touch a note first. Is that intended?

Right, the Tab-To-Note (with audition) feature needs the first note to be selected. If you have no selection, or there are multiple notes selected, it doesn't currently have a defined behavior for which note to start on (which may be improved in the the future). For now, simply clicking on the first note gets things kicked off.

There are some known issues with lingering colors in the new PRV when switching themes. Opening and closing SONAR after the theme switch should take care of it for now. We'll get it straightened out.
RE: the MIDI work - the whole team here is committed to making SONAR's MIDI experience the best there is. I do use these new features every day in my project work, so I'll be frequenting the forums to get your thoughts and feedback. Cheers!

Hello Bob, In versions prior to 2017.03, hotkeys A (show all tracks), H (hide all tracks), V (invert track selection) were quite used. I had even created a script with Autohotkey to show only the current track, something that there was not in Sonar, but I used it constantly, along with the other keys above. These operations are now restricted to the mouse only. Even the new "AutoLock" does not have the possibility of a keyboard shortcut. I believe that repetitive operations should have support via the keyboard to facilitate the workflow. Is there any chance these functions will have shortcut keys again?

I work with some softsynths (i.e. Steel Guitar) that has 6 or more CCs. While I realize you can select either showing one CC lane or multiple lanes, there are some cases where I would like to have 2 out of the 6 showing if the timing of one curve has to match up with the other. If I display multiple controllers, I lose resolution compared to displaying just 2 controllers. I can use the - icon to eliminate the ones I don't what to see, but it's a pain (more work) to the bring them back up again.
I would be nice if when displaying multiple controllers, you could click on one controller lane, and then CTRL click on the second desired lane (or even a third lane), to show only the lanes you want to work on. This would also eliminate the need to go to a menu to select show multiple or single controllers.
This is somewhat like how the automation lanes in the track view work.

I agree. On occasion I also like to see more than one controller shown. Control click is the perfect solution IMHO.

Regarding the PRV controller pane. I use automation lanes all the time to manage CC1 (dynamics), CC2 (vibrato), and CC11 (expression). Some VIs use additional CCs. With the improved PRV controller lane, the issues of “unification” comes up again. The editing for automation lanes is in some ways far more elegant than the PRV controller lanes, but also harder to “edit”. Automation is easy to “record” after the midi has been recorded – this is a huge plus. Here’s what I’d like: - Ability to move controller panes to automation lanes and back
- Display of multiple controller panes in the PRV
- Ability to “play in” controller information in the PRV similar to automation without affecting the notes.
- Some sort of long-term “best practices” that simplifies and/or unifies the various uses of CC messages.
If we had a fully functional PRV for controller information, I'm not sure I'd use the track view nearly as much. Edited for clarity.

I get that occasionally! I've never raised it because it doesn't happen very often and I can't replicate it at will. But you are not alone! With me it predates the last couple of updates, but when it came into play I don't know.

I skipped the 2017.03 update because I expected the 2017.04 update to have some PRV tweaks. Now that I've had a chance to play with it, I think the improvements compared to the old version are pretty huge. I particularly like some of the less-obvious features, like being able to open with only the selected tracks filtered.
It took me a while to "crack the code" about selection/de-selection/auto lock in the Track Pane but once I figured it out, it made sense. What threw me the most was when I de-selected a track because it also acquired the focus in the process, so it didn't appear to de-select. Then I realized that as soon as put the focus on another track, the de-selected track went away. While not intuitive, it was logical in the sense that if you de-selected a track, the odds are pretty much 100% you're going to select, or put the focus on, a different track.
Overall I think the PRV re-designs are going in a really great direction (and implementing some of the suggestions for improvements will take it even further). It's encouraging to see this kind of love given to recording and editing based on everyone's favorite decades-old spec! Good job.

I realize you want keyboard shortcuts, but there are "mouse shortcuts" that I find helpful.
To show all tracks, double-click on any one track number.
To show only the selected track and hide all other tracks, click on the track number for the track you want to show.
I don't know of any simple way to invert tracks.

I'm not sure about A and V Steve, but other shortcuts that have disappeared (screensets) are still available if you export them from whatever older version of Sonar you are using then import them into the latest update after install. Probably works for these as well.

A, V, H are gone in new PRV, also "Pick Tracks" option (which can be associated with a shortcut key). Pick track is still in the keyboard shortcut list, but it does not work anymore.

Yes! If you double-click as described previously and all tracks are visible, then clicking on any note will highlight the track it came from in the list to the right. It will also highlight the track in the Track View, and if you've associated a color strip with the track, the notes will reflect the choice of colors so that makes it easier to tell which notes belong to which tracks. Here's another interesting feature: Suppose you select a few notes in Track 1. Then you ctrl+click on Track 2. The notes in Track 1 will remain selected. Now you want to work on all of Track 1, so you ctrl+click on any Track 1 note - the track to the right is highlighted and you can do your track-wide edits. But now if you ctrl+click on Track 2, the original Track 1 notes on which you ctrl+click remain selected. This is very helpful when bouncing back and forth between making edits on specific notes in specific tracks. Play around a bit with ctrl+clicking and you'll see what I mean. I have to say it took some brainstrain to wrap my head around the documentation in terms of selection, de-selection, auto lock, etc. I've written up what I've found for my next Sound on Sound column, which will hopefully make things clearer. I realize the keyboard equivalents from the original PRV are gone (although it seems it wouldn't be that hard to "hook them up" again), but the new PRV is way more functional, especially if you wait through March and do the April update.
