Both thumbs up for the new Limiter, came from the heavens, closed a gap. And it sounds great, it's audibly better to my other limiters. Nice job.

Hi.
I have a problem with the new Limiter.  I hear only artifacts as soon as I use it on a track or a bus. At first I imported a file. But even a recording I just did in Sonar showed the same issue. I did a reinstall, I even deleted the vst3 manually, but it did not help. Besides this it seems not possible to use it in other hosts, which is a great disappointment for me. I need to finish projects in other hosts where it would have been a really serious option if it is as good as the MB/EQ LP. Bummer....

30 seconds after I posted my comment I found the solution here in the forum:http://forum.cakewalk.com/Adaptive-limiter-sounds-like-ring-modulator-solved-m3613336.aspx
Sorry for bothering you. Though I still wish it could be used in other hosts as well (as MB/EQ LP).....

Platinum user here. I just ran this update and then, when I started a new project and opened TH3, a window popped up saying (if I remember correctly, which I might not) there were 5 new factory banks with this update. I'm not seeing any new banks in TH3 though, and I'm not finding any info about this anywhere else. Anyone know where I should be able to find the new TH3 banks?

Great e-zine!! Very welcome addition to go along with the monthly updates. Even if it only came out every other month/quarter would still be better than nothing.

I have been VERY impressed with this update, everything seems to be running MUCH smoother on my Surface Pro 3.  The touch enhancements are fluid (I have had once where it didn't show the zooming in until I tried zooming out then it snapped to a zoomed in view) but other wise very nice.  I stopped using my pen on my Surface because I never found much use for it, but now with improvements on that I think I'll finally get new batteries for it.  Also the Adaptive Limiter is quickly going to be a new staple for me.

Definitely worth checking out the pen stuff. It was built specifically to take advantage of surface. Touch gestures have also been significantly optimized to be smoother.

So I did wind up upgrading my pen to the Pro 4 pen and WOW, these enhancements really make it nice to use in Sonar.  I like the use of pressure to quickly alter the velocity while creating the MIDI note and how easy it is to just draw out the notes and erase them, so much nicer than using a mouse.

Apparently my Sonar updated on its own without my authorization.
I lost the ability to use my Icon Qcon pro X. I was using a custom mackie driver and sonar killed it. i reinstalled it ans it still doesnt work.
It also changed where my transport bar is and how it acts along with the rest of the info that was there.

Appearances may be deceiving. Cakewalk does not push updates to their software. Users must initiate the update process using the Command Center or manually download and install updates.

What scook said. You MUST update the software yourself, there is no mechanism for automatic updates.

However Windows pushes automatic updates, and drivers are sometimes casualties. I recommend re-installing the drivers for the affected gear. That's all I had to do when this happened to me a couple times in the past.

Ripple editing is pretty cool, but make a hot key for turning it off and
on, please! I just tried it for the first time and it's handy, but the
particular task I'm doing means I have to turn it on and off a lot. It's a
big pain in the ass to go to the menu every time.

Thanks!

Regarding ripple edit, this is an important improvement on its own merits.

However, it also provides an important foundation for the type of work that is typically done when mastering an entire CD, where individual songs are often moved around.  I am producing a CD collaborating with an artist who has committed to StudioOne for this project, so I have been following suit.  In general, I believe I can work faster and better in Sonar, but that is simply not an option on this project.

Yesterday, I did the first master project for this CD.  StudioOne has a separate project mode specifically geared to the mastering phase.  There is nothing one can do in StudioOne's project view that is impossible to do in Sonar, but it really is convenient to have that special mode.

It seems to me that ripple edit is a key element needed for such a mastering environment.  I do hope that Cakewalk recognizes this and will take a good look at StudioOne's mastering mode, in order to adopt some of the efficiencies that mode enables.

The issuu online reader for the ezine is a pain in the neck. On my laptop it has too sizes: too small (hard to read) and too big (off the edge of the screen). Do I really have to give up my email to yet another online marketer to get a usable copy downloaded to my computer? I probably won't as I have more than enough online pen-pals-for life, which means I won't see much of the ezine going forward. I know you've got some kind of "partnership" going with the company hosting the thing, and you worked on it for a long time, and you're not going back just because I don't like it, but this was a solution that did not have an associated problem, in my opinion.

What is wrong with a simple PDF, downloadable from cakewalk.com?  Why complicate things like this?

No! You can use a fictional email, there's no kind of double verification or anything. Then you can download the PDF.

Not all sites are so trusting, so I always recommend creating a real email on something like gmail or AOL or whatever specifically for signing up for things. Then all your marketing solicitations go to one place that you can ignore or not, as you see fit.

It's too bad you missed out on the lifetime updates...however note that FL charges for add-ons. So far, a lot of the SONAR updates like the Phase-Linear EQ, AD 2, Adaptive Limiter, etc. have been included as part of an update. In many cases what you receive from the updates is worth more than the cost of the updates themselves.

The term "blackmail" is silly. Engineers work on programs and add improvements. That takes time and money, and in the case of SONAR, the improvements are often considerable. Therefore if you want these additional features, it will cost money. Or you can just keep using the program "as is" if you don't want the new features. Or you can wait a few years to update and get all the enhancements at one time.

I want to report an issue when freezing .. Frozen track -upon unfreeze deleted all audio from original file for every frozen track in song!!! The empty track shows the dots as if there is info but nothing there. No hidden files ect. The track tempo was set from melodyne originally then frozen later to disappear.

Nope.

EDIT:

Heh. Cut/paste on large blocks of data quite spectacularly broken now.

EDIT 2:

Confirmed, Sonar can't handle mixed data types in the copy. If I do just midi tracks its fine, if I move tracks with melodyne separately, fine. Audio tracks, fine.

Copy them all together at same time and Sonar goes berzerk.
