Excellent video! Quite the range of information. I generally use Session Drummer for clients in place of a click track at the beginning, and the step sequencer info will enable me to shorten the setup time so we can get on to recording. Thank you, Cakewalk!

I ordered Sonar PE last week and have been worried about the curve and wondering how I was going to do some things that I wanted to. Now I'm less worried and feel like it won't take forever to get cranking on some drum tracks. Much Thanks!!

Excellent - I hope there are many more... I'm having a small problem though as I work through the class. When I get to the point of adding the crash cymbol clip as a separate layer it 'cuts a hole' in the first drum layer. As I copy the crash cymbol clip every 4 bars it also 'cuts a hole' in the first drum layer at each point of the clip i.e. Layer 1 XXX XXX XXX XXX Layer 2 X X X X Does anybody know what settings I have wrong? Thanks. -=mike=-

Great job. These are a dead bullseye of what people have been wishing for. Great quality, well-done, and had a few moments where I had to rewind and watch a part again saying "holy crap, I didn't know about that!" Eagerly waiting for more. Sounds like someone doesn't have to worry about job security for a while!

EXCELLENT video series, Seth! I highly recommend these for all Sonar 8 users, beginners and experienced alike. You really illuminated some Sonar Percussion "best practices" for the type of (rock/pop) music I create. Your straight-forward presentation will save me countless hours of noodling with PX64 and StepSeq since I now "get it". The workflow tips/tricks of track folders, layers, selecting, editting, etc. are very valuable. You've set the bar very high for the future videos - that's for sure! THANKS!

Great job Seth...I am sure it took some time to produce this outstanding video - the fact that you actually did a cradle to grave tutorial, rather than just hi-lighting that this or that can be done by Sonar is what sets this apart - it also helps that you have intimate knowledge of the product and can offer added tips along the way. I hope to see more tutorials from you, especially on newer additions to releases (Matrix view, synths/Fx...) Cakewalk should be commended on putting out this high level of product. Thanks again!

This is quite a high quality instructional video , and , I would like to be able to watch whilst off line. Question; Why make your users go to great lenghts in order to get this on there hard drives ??? I don't have firefox or any of the other programs mention in the precedeing post ...... Camel audio has vids like this ( obviously for the synth they sell , not session drummer !)availible to users who have logged into the site ..... freely availible for registered users to download and watch in the best circumstances for them... Why not do that Cake ?????????????????????

Why not do that Cake ????????????????????? Take a look into your browser cache, the files are already on your harddrive. The size of these files is between 138 MB and 230 MB, so relatively easy to find if you know the place of the folders of your browsers cache. Rename the files to "what you want. flv". "flv" means Flashvideo, so you need a player that can handle .flv files. I use the free "Media Player Classic - Home Cinema" because of the build in video and audio codecs. Works great. You can find the player here: http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/about-homepage.html And to Cakewalk: These videos are really excellent! Thank you so much! All the best, Klaus

OK that's funny, sylvan was asking for this a day or so ago, except he wanted real drum production, i offered to do this for them and two days later it magically appears. Look Seth and Brandon i love you guys i hope we meet for real in the not too distant future. Just remember if i offend you or trump you with ideas, were on the same side. I don't know what part you two play in the scheme of things. But lets work together, i have the qualifications and the knowledge and you have the software. Cakewalk, Love the new HD Videos, very well done! Even long-time SONAR users learn something new everyday! Greatly appreciated. :) For the next release of SONAR (and/or optional as an update) for all reg users; I suggest including the new HD Video Tutorials as part of the install that includes links accessible on the SONAR Start-Page and in the Help Menu. That way these Videos can be viewed off-line and easily accessible directly in SONAR. -

Totally done right, very professional and even a total Sonar PE novice like me was able to grasp it and follow along. One question regarding your statement : is there anything remotely of this caliber available for EQ-ing vocals and Sonar's tools for vocal production? Seems like the next logical step in your series! Keep up the awesome work and thank you for helping to finally turn on some lights!

I'm curious too about how to produce these great quality videos. BUT - I suggest they put a higher priority on creating videos for more areas of using Sonar (e.g., show using ACT on several controllers, more applications of AudioSnap, other major workflow best practices, etc.) Because, once I get more efficient and pump out more songs with Sonar, I'll have time to take on making videos .

I got the DownloadHelper saved to my drive, but not being a Firefox user...can you guys help me with the actual installatino? How do I point Firefox to this file to install it as an add-on? There is a link on DownloadHelpers web site that you click and it automatically installs it in Firefox for you. Once it's done (about 3 seconds), you will see a tri colored orb thingy to the left of the address bar that will swirl around if DownloadHelper is able to save the video. There is another method that is totally noninvasive. Download this free utility called Video Cache Viewer. There is no install, just unzip it to a folder on your desktop. Then go to Youtube or any site that has a video you want to save. Watch the video, then before closing your web browser open up Video Cache Viewer. It will give you a list of all the hidden video's that are in your web browsers cache and allow you to save them. Once you get the video file you may need or want to change the format. I use Format Factory. It's a 100% free video/audio converter and DVD/Audio CD ripper. Best converter/ripper I've ever seen, even better then ones you buy. Good luck.
