SONAR, Sound Canvas Va, and SysEx messages

Will there be a time when Sonar will send SysEx messages to SCVA? I'm surprised it doesn't already, being such a well made product. :-/

Sonar is one of very few that Roland lists as incompatible with this version and sending sysex http://forum.cakewalk.com...it-m3362247.aspx

So you're saying it's actually an issue with Roland not accepting it from Sonar, rather than Sonar not sending it?

    Greetings,

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/SONAR-and-Roland-Sound-Canvas-VA-m3400921.aspx
This also resolves the SYSX data matter and allows Instrument Definitions to remain in the Sonar Inspector.
Since SAVIHost hosts the VST instead of SONAR, while loopMIDI sends MIDI SYSX data through SAVIHost to the VST.
    Sincerely,
    David R.

This matter will be resolved when we the customers kindly demand it. Best wishes.

Well then I am kindly demanding it.  They'll be hearing from me. :)

Thanks, David, for that great explanation!

Greetings, A practical solution to the SONAR VST matter; It is loopMIDI by Tobias Erichsen. Download Link:  http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html.
Also rtpMIDI by Tobias Erichsen. Download Link: http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi.html.
Then SAVIHost by Hermann Seib. Download Link: http://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm.
Install all three items on the computer. Sometimes during installation an error message may prompt saying to uninstall rtpMIDI. Make sure rtpMIDI is not running while installing loopMIDI. Open Windows Task Manager and highlight it, then End task. loopMIDI will install eventually. After all three items are installed, it will never be necessary to use SONAR as a VST host. SONAR may then serve as a MIDI playback host to output MIDI data to loopMIDI. loopMIDI will then carry the SONAR MIDI data to SAVIHost selected VST. It really is that simple. About the purpose; loopMIDI carries the MIDI host data to any SAVIHost VST. rtpMIDI streams the MIDI host data to a remote MIDI DAW or device. SAVIHost is a VST wrapper that allows any VST to receive MIDI data and play that MIDI data within the VST player. Audio data is also utilized. SAVIHost.exe application may be copied. Then locate any VST dll. Copy the name only of the VST dll like "Sound Canvas VA" not the d-l-l. The copied SAVIHost.exe will be renamed Sound Canvas VA as a SAVIHost.exe for Sound Canvas VA as a desktop VST. Now run loopMIDI and create a loopMIDI Port as many as you need, three are average. In the Sound Canvas VA SAVIHost VST, Open Devices, MIDI, Input Port 1:, select loopMIDI Port, click OK, done. Open Devices, Wave, Input Port:, select *No Wave*. Next, Output Port: select MME: Microsoft Sound Mapper or MME:(your sound device) if you have one. Then Sample Rate: select the highest that your Soundcard or Sound Device is set at. Next, Buffer is selectable but 4416 default is ok. Click OK, done. VST is ready. Open SONAR Edit/Preferences, MIDI/Devices/Outputs, check any box that is loopMIDI. They list as loopMIDI Port, loopMIDI Port 1 and loopMIDI Port 2, as many as you need. Click Apply and or Ok. Open a MIDI file or project in SONAR. At the Output of any MIDI track, select the loopMIDI Port for any MIDI VST or device, onboard or connected to the computer. rtpMIDI can run simultaneously if you have wireless MIDI devices. For simultaneous wireless MIDI devices; in SONAR, select any MIDI track Output to the computer name. Click play, and enjoy. You may hear effects and sounds never heard before since Roland and Yamaha have a lot that are included in the VST versions of the modules. The sound in the SAVIHost VST is the authentic factory format sound of that VST. Some may sound different even amazing and can be tweaked as you like. Recommendations: Sound Canvas VA for GM/GS and Yamaha S-YXG50 for GM/XG. The GS Midi files only sound correct in Sound Canvas VA. The XG Midi files only sound correct in S-YXG50. Ther are other Roland and Yamaha gear which also sound great with GS and XG formats. Different instruments can be assigned to specific SAVIHost VST's, here's how. About multiple instances of VST's. Example; Open three SAVIHost VST's any brand is ok. In SONAR, select any MIDI track Output to an alternate loopMIDI Port. Then in the preferred SAVIHost VST, open Devices, MIDI, Input Port 1 and select the loopMIDI Port that corresponds to the selected loopMIDI Port in the SONAR selected track Output, click OK, done. Repeat that process with additional tracks in SONAR and additional SAVIHost VST's. Summary; loopMIDI and SAVIHost allow any VST to run in a 24bit 96khz environment in the computer. The SAVIHost VST runs stable without lag or wireless matters. Perfect performance. Many new and nuance effects and sound. Additional precise control with MIDI controllers. Most of all, the original factory designed format sound. GS and XG never sounded better. Hope this helps everyone.
    Sincerely, David R.
