Cakewalk,

What about some different types of videos that will show folks how to use you product in the performing of their daily functions. I believe that if you show these types of videos, people will know that performing every day recording task will make their recording experience easy with Sonar.

I have posted here with the question on how to set up Sonar so that I can have the vocalist listen to themselves with reverb added, but not recorded. I got so many different answers that didn’t' work. So, I would like Cakewalk to present a video on the setup of vocal monitoring, if possible. It should focus on how to assign tracks to busses for monitoring. How to place sends to multiple I/O for listening or using a headphone amp in the process, and also how t add an external and headphone amp. These are the types of videos that are needed so we know how to use your product effectively in our studios. There have been hundreds of post on this with varied answers, and folks still don’t have a complete answer.

Thanks.

James.

+1 on this one - The whole business of stems, busses, submixes etc is still puzzling me, and this is only due to a lack of raw info, which I can usually process and with trial and error generally figure out for myself. I will of course come to the forum with my questions, but any video tutorials in this area would be a huge help

Peace Love and Understanding

EDIT: Completely forgot to say thanks Bakers for the great stuff that IS up there on the Cakewalk YouTube channel, it has been a great help to me in my first 6 months of setting up my project studio with Sonar

I would have to agree;
sometimes it takes a few times before I get it and
sometimes I just can't make heads nor tails of it.
The videos of day to day set up and in my case (with XP Pro 64 windows edition)
would be a help. I still dont know how to use a large number of functions.

It would be cool if they allowed Sonar usesr to post stuff here also, using Camtasia or whatever, showing their ways around certain problem areas.
I guess they could just post on YouTube, and link to them in them in the forums. but maybe the video quality might be better from this site?

Yes, the video quality is outstanding! I was able to see it all legibly on a widescreen monitor.

Thanks!

FWIW, here's the link to my latest (as of today) video on YouTube : Video link. Although it primarily features my Zion guitar Sonar 8 is visible on the computer monitor. I thought I'd post it for holiday greetings anyway. Happy happy merry merry everything!

Here is a video of my band's soundman's thumb. Unfortunately we're in the background recording a pink floyd song.

I just realized "soundman's thumb" = good name for a band.

Thanks for sharing! It's nice to be reminded that Cakewalk staff are real musicians too.

I liked the recording, thumb and all. But, how did you ever get Glennbo to come in to play drums! Now THAT is clout!

:)

Thanks Bob. I agree with dburns that its nice to see the musicians behind the software. This is a really good (how it should sound/mix)~ video. Awesome job BTW guys. I think It also answers my question as to posting day to day trial and error videos, but I will ask. Can we drop a link here, in this thread, (for a work around) or should this be just for cakewalk admin video links.

At the end it says......

Many of these videos are also available for download from our FTP

But when I try to go there it asks for a password and user name how do I get these so I can download videos. I'm on a very slow dial up connection and have a lot of trouble viewing them as streaming video.
