SONAR X1 Power book

Hey Scott: (or if anyone else knows)
Is the ePub (Nook) version of the book printable?
 
I ask because Amazon wont ship to Australia at the moment for this book and it's 41.95 as an ePub from Barnes and Noble and while I can't read it on my iPhone I can download it to my Pc and read it there. It would be nice to print the odd pages.
 
Cakewalk have the printed book heavily discounted down to $29.95 but want $35 (ouch!) for postage.

    Hey Mike,

    I'm not sure. I don't have a Nook and don't have access to that version of the book. I would think that it would be allowed, but I don't know for certain.

    I can find out from the publisher, but not until sometime later next week since it's the weekend now and I don't always hear back right away.

    When you mentioned Amazon, were you talking about the print book? I'm pretty sure they ship books worldwide. You went to the Amazon.com site and it wouldn't let you ship to AU?

    If you were talking about the Kindle edition, then yeah, that's delayed while the publisher and Amazon are working on the international distribution deal for the publisher's entire book catalog. They've been working on this thing for almost a year now, but I'm finally being told it should be done next month (April). So the kindle edition will be available worldwide soon.

    No the amazon site said this title wasn't available for shipping to Australia which is weird as I've bought others before. I'll wait till you hear back from the publisher.

    I can only go by the Nook titles I have for my tablet, which I can also use their Desktop PC client to read, and there is not print capabilities on any of the titles I own, so read into that what you may.

    Hey Mike,

    I've got the official word from the publisher here...

    "The answer is yes, a buyer of a NOOK version can print out pages. Here is the DRM surrounding printing:
     
    May not print more than  fifteen percent (15%) of the eBook Title in any 30-day period; 
    May not print, copy, cut or paste any material from the eBook Title without a dynamic watermark or other statement that indicates the material is protected by copyright;" 

    So it looks like you can, but with a couple limitations. Hope this helps.

    Isn't Australia (Australasia) part of the Western world?? Why won't Amazon deliver there?? Btw, Scott's book is very go-to reading. Well worth the cash.

    FWIW I've bought one of Scott's Sonar Power books before from Amazon no problems - it was a while ago though, I think it was for Sonar 5. Maybe there are international shipping restrictions on books now - you wouldnt think so though would you?

    Amazon deliver,but only the most ridiculously  limited few items,for instance I get emails from Amazon EVERYDAY about Audio Interfaces,but when I go to checkout[without fail] a RED pop up says "We're Sorry the Item you've selected cannot be shipped to your default Address"!!!

    I have bought 3 previous Power Books from Amazon but this one is marked as not available to Australia at Checkout.

    unfortunately while Cakewalk have it the International Shipping that they charge makes it $65.

    I had SONAR 4 and 6 and Sound Forge 8 in the Power Book series.

    Now that I know that i can print some parts of the ePub version over time I will probably get it.

    Would it be possible for you to provide more info about the message that you got from Amazon saying that it couldn't ship to Australia?

    I'd like to get the information back to them so they can look into it...

    mine turned up the other day, have been reading a bit of it ...  only thing I dislike is the physical size  compared to the previous versions .

    Yes,Scotts book NOW,ships to Australia,but it DID NOT initially,from AMAZON,which is why I ponyed the cakewalk 35 dollar ship. 

    Now I just wish EVERY other item I try to buy from them, doesn't end up with- "Wer'e sorry the item you requested DOES NOT ship to your address"!

    Yep the book is great...Last night I used it as a reference book and looked up how to add lyrics to the staff view for printing...the answers were right there !!

     A quick search for Scotts Book as Epub only took me to a few scam sites offering it for free download. ( must be some stupid people would fall for that)
    Amazon did not list it as available in E Book format here in Canada.
    I'm a big fan of reading books on my Kobo. Many of my friends and family own Kobos, Sony,Libra,Kindle's. There are many formats they use to publish but you can use free software Caliber to convert with medium sucsess. Basicly in Canada Kobo/ Chapters uses Epub format. Kindle is more USA oriented with the Lib or Amazon format. All read PDF which is not great for books.
    Anyhow we all find that manuals are not user friendly in e book format. Even with an index it's slow to navigate. The PC versions of most E readers use clunky software and slow. We just bought a great cookbook via the Kobo store and found out you can't print anything at all unless you convert to PDF with Caiber. The coversion then messes the formating a bit so once again. It is wonderful to have the book in your hand witin a few minutes as well as save a bit of cash . Most E books are much cheaper than the printed version and there is no shipping.  For cookbooks and manuals Buy the real book.

    Cool... thanks! Yeah, supposedly the publisher increased the size of their entire Power book line. I've heard from other readers that this makes the text easier to read and that it's also easier to lay the book flat on a desk to keep it open.

    Yes,Scotts book NOW,ships to Australia,but it DID NOT initially,from AMAZON,which is why I ponyed the cakewalk 35 dollar ship.

    I figured that X1 was a significant enough departure from all previous versions that it was worthwhile getting Scott's book.

    Yep the book is great...Last night I used it as a reference book and looked up how to add lyrics to the staff view for printing...the answers were right there !!

    Yep, I usually recommend reading it cover-to-cover at least once,  but after that, it's make a nice reference too. And I'm glad I was able to fit info about all of the features (including the Staff view), although some of the older features weren't changed much.

     A quick search for Scotts Book as Epub only took me to a few scam sites offering it for free download. ( must be some stupid people would fall for that)
    Amazon did not list it as available in E Book format here in Canada.

    Yeah, the publisher is really cracking down on any possible piracy, which is great. Also, the eBook version should be available outside the US sometime this month. The publisher has been working on getting their entire eBook catalog into a international distribution deal with Amazon. Hopefully it'll be done any day now.

    hi Scott, Ya I think that the publishing world is changing fast just like music and digital distribution, super great for the consumer but scary for people like you who are just trying to turn an honest coin from their work. Like music, once digitized it is too easy to distribute, both legal and not so legal.Text is just text so quality is not the selling point here as with music. From your point of veiw you might want to fully understand the E book formats and see which ones are better copy protected and request your book be only realesed in that format.

    Piracy, wow what a crock...come on people just buy the frigging book it's a bargain, just think what a guitar lesson or a piano lesson would cost, this is like a whole college class all about your X1 program for the cost of one or two lessons !!!!!! Geeez !!!
