Thanks Bob, USB2 - I talked to the techs at RME and they told me there should not be a difference with the drivers though. I have seen that the USB2 ports are preferred over the USB3 ports though.

I cannot for the life of me imagine why you are having these crashes. 32-bit plugins? System tweaks you haven't mentioned? Windows up to current maintenance levels? Overclocking? Bob Bone

Guitarmech111 . In the mainframe software world, which I have been a part of for over 30 years, backwards compatibility is key. If the federal reserve was not able to open some databases that were created in prior versions of the software I was a part of, countries would have gone under for a short amount of time. You would not be able to withdraw money from an ATM or your insurance company would not have any records of your coverage or treatments. SONAR is nowhere near that critical in nature to most. ;) Interesting example. The state of a lot of banks IT systems is frankly frightening. Many haven't upgraded their mainframes but rather just maintain them because they have been to frightened to upgrade, instead they build modern IT systems around them so it looks modern, but the core is flimsey. Banks IT systems are terrible on the whole, in the UK we often see the odd bank unable to function because some buggy overnight batch process screwed up their transactions either because mainframe can't cope or they are going through a modernisation program. However UK systems can look extremely hi tech compared to bank of america for instance. So no, backwards compatibility plagues banks. As for the fed reserve they can get away with anything these days it seems.

Just to clarify, no tune-up or motherboard utilities installed? I.E Asus tune-up, Nvidia gfx card boosters.
Do you have Malwarebytes anti-malware installed or any other software that may run a background process?
One option I may suggest is to turn back on the windows error reporting. This will log pretty much everything and make this issue much easier to solve.

Thanks, Conley. Just for a test, what happens if you swap out the Trilogy synth for Dim Pro (x64)? I am wondering if maybe the Trilogy synth and something in X3 just don't get along. Bob Bone

Nothing is using the trilogy synth. I had it in there and had a bass line recorded. It is basically occupying space only.

Anderton You seem to have more problems than anyone else, even with operations that are common. I've cloned Sonar tracks with X-series DAWs hundreds of times, even back to the scary X1 beta, and never had a crash. There may be some kind of root cause to all these problem, and if so, and your time might be better spent trying to find it than constantly fighting Sonar.
Amen!

Yea try removing malwarebytes, It has processes that run in the background that could be causing an issue. Although it as said, would be easier if you were to re-enable the error reporting service to see exactly what is causing the shutdown.
Do either of DPClat or LatMon show any spikes at time of shutdown or just before? Tracing it back to a service or device via those and performance monitor/taskman/services might help.

No crashes today at all. But then, I have not had the volume of work in SONAR I had the other day. Musta been one of those days where stuff just happened. I am taking the Malware bytes info under consideration. I understood that the background processing is negligible.

If you haven't tried it yet, It may be worth uninstalling/reinstalling your RME drivers. From X1d-X3e I've only had two sessions where Sonar went on a crash binge. Both times reinstalling my interface driver took care of the problem. Don't know if the driver was corrupted or just the act of reinstalling rebuilds the windows audio streaming stack but it might be worth a try. Good Luck. Steve
