Nothing to say other than to add my HUGE thanks to Cakewalk and congratulations on doing an incredible job.  Cakewalk is turning into something truly remarkable and I'm totally stoked to be able to witness and be part of it as a user.

I'm still seeing Braintree update in my command center which I installed when it came out. Shouldn't it say Cambridge update and have an update button instead of install, install all and launch?

Any Answer is appreciated

Thanks

It looks like the Goldtop extension litters up the Dim Pro multisamples folder. The installer puts all the sfz files at the top level instead of in the GOLDTOPNECK directory. Things look pretty normal in Dim Pro, but you might want to fix that bit. All the file names in upper case kind of breaks the formatting standard for the rest of the library (nit).

It should be a yellow button if you need to update. Braintree was build 21.1.0.37 Cambridge is build 21.1.0.38. I think there are some issues with CCC seeing the version you have if you installed offline but don't hold me to that as I do all updates and install with Command Center.

Correction: Apparently Build 21.1.0.38 is an update to Braintree , Cambridge is Build 21.2.0.21. Sorry if this caused any confusion.

Re: SONAR "Cambridge" Release is Now Available! 2015/03/26 20:12:57 (permalink)
Hard to understand why anyone would remain confused about the "membership" model. I bought the full upgrade from Sonar X3 to Sonar Platinum for $149. Just like other years, that brought me new functionality and new content. Now, at no additional cost, I also get significant improvements in functionality and additional content regularly (monthly so far). Each month I look at the updates and ask, would I pay $12.42 for this bundle of additional function and content (149 divided by 12)? Of course I would. Next year the decision to pay again to continue such cheap incremental improvements should be easy. But I also have the option to stop paying, stop getting regular updates, and just keep using what I already have.

Those who don't have the cash for a full initial purchase can get the full product with very reasonable monthly payments. They can use the full set of features for very little money and can quite using the product and quit paying at any time. If they pay for 12 months, they own the product outright with no requirement to keep paying (unless they want to continue receiving regular improvements). Those who chose monthly payment end up paying more over a year than those who pay all at once, but monthly payment  can be a great option for those who need it.

Thanks teego. I guess my ccc isn't seeing the update. I have the Braintree build. Sonar is yellow and has been even after I updated to Braintree so I don't know what's going on. Maybe someone from Cake will help out.

Thanks again.

Hi-

I haven't decided if I'm going the download/install manually or automatic route yet for this update, but I noticed a couple things about the Command Center which made me go "Huh?":
  • The first item listed is "Brian Hardgroove Collection," which has a red light and an Install button. Is that content different from what's in the "Hardgroove's Bass Loops" and "Hardgroove Steinberger" folders? I already have those, installed from the CC.
  • When I click on SONAR Platinum, it shows I have the Braintree Update and says "An update is available for this product! Learn More," but when I click that link it just takes me to the Cakewalk SONAR Product page, which has no info about the update that I could see. I thought it might go to info about Cambridge.
Thanks for the update!

HOLD ON! Cambridge has done something to my ProChannel list! After the upgrade I looked for the Panipulator in the PC list and there are now 4 blank boxes added on the list. PCS-BusCM, PCS-CakeSM, PCS-GlossEQM, and PCS-NukeCM! The names are there but no plugins!
When I click on one of the boxes a VST Plugin Error box appears! It says it failed to load and gives the location as C/Program Files (x86)/Cakewalk/Shared Utilities/Internal/ and the name of the plug.
None of this was going on until I updated thru CCC.
I have checked and the plugs .dll files are there. Any idea anyone?
I would really like to get these empty plugin boxes off my list. It is very annoying.

The CCC still needs love (particularly to manually installed products). Installing manually and then running CCC merely changed SONAR status from Green to Yellow. All others remained red from manual install previously. This will get out of hand rapidly in coming months.

Just curious, though...if you install manually and are not using the CCC to install files, does it really matter what the CCC shows? If each release shows which elements to download for the release, then you'll know what needs to be installed.

After having recently been dumped into demo mode and being told to log out and back into Command Centre I now have all read lights so spent the morning making them go green.

You're right though what does it matter if we're getting notification of updates outside the CCC. It's just the green lights mean you're good to go while red means you have to stop. Something psychological about that. Maybe I'm just psycho, who knows.

If you installed the Braintree Anderton collection, the Hardgroove collection is on your machine. Unfortunately, because the Hardgroove Collection has a new installer, C3 does not know it was already installed on your PC. I am guessing this installer was created because the content is exclusive to Braintree. Also there was some mention of the Collection being available for sale to member who sign up after Braintree.

So I suppose there's no problem if you never got around to installing Braintree, right?  Updates are cumulative?  I can't afford the bandwidth to update every month with my studio's cell phone G3 network, by the end of the year my $99 version of Professional would have cost me another $200. So I will download this update off site and see if that works this time.

Are we going to have to do a VST reset for every release?
Some of us like to rename the NI VSTs so we know what they are (default, 8 out, 16 out). Forcing a VST reset for every release is a PITA.

Renaming plug-ins using the Plug-in manager has not been recommended for this very reason. There may come a time when renaming is handled differently but resets have become more common starting with X3. For now, consider using custom plug-in layouts or change the VSTPlugInNameFormat value in Cakewalk.ini http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=INI_Files.4.html. Otherwise, I suppose one could create a .reg file to merge after every reset.

The real issue with this is that the CCC should be an accurate visual indicator of what it loaded on a computer. Pretty straightforward. The onus for this should not go onto the users to do what CCC should be doing on its own. Another concern this opens is that most customers do not frequent this forum, so updates/issues are apt to be identified/addressed via the CCC (only). The CCC is sort of the "front end" to SONAR now, so should be an impeccable utility, yet I just spent my time with "Cambridge" editing XML files to tell CCC what is should already know (i.e. zero work in SONAR this evening other than X3e).

Ok, so there is a complicated workaround, maybe. The problem is, it should just work, period. Software vendors cannot rely on their users being gurus in either their applications or the operating systems they run on. It's not a user issue, it's a vendor issue. Sorry, I don't buy into the notion that everyone has to be an expert to get something to work correctly. Why should anyone need to know how to register anything or fiddle with VSTPluginNameFormat in cakewalk.ini? Yeah, we're all idiots, but knowing that doesn't really help us much. After years of working with Sonar, I know enough about all the fiddly bits to be dangerous, in other environments things just work.

Re: SONAR "Cambridge" Release is Now Available! 2015/03/27 04:37:44 (permalink)
Hi Gang!

I'm downloading from my online account, not CCC...

OK... I managed to download Cambridge, but mine was described as 21.2.xxx? I can't try running it until tomorrow... Will this need to be re activated even though I've got the full year paid for? Issues with getting that machine online...

But i am not finding the Les Paul Goltop.. I clicked on the Anderson Collection. It doesn't mention it and shows as 1.0.13 or some such... Is this what I must get? Must I download the the entire collection to get the addition?

Same with the Boz (sp?) pan device for PC. No mention of it when I click on the collection icon.. It generates a download link for another 1.0.13 type of version number and no mention of the pan device... Sorry, senior moment I'm forgetting the names and numbers right now and don't have access tonight anymore... ;-)

Why should anyone need to
.....

fiddle with VSTPluginNameFormat in cakewalk.ini? Yeah, we're all idiots, but knowing that doesn't really help us much.

..
because it's the perfect one time solution that actually works. If easy solutions aren't helpful to you maybe try acupuncture?

I did not realize this

Are we going to have to do a VST reset for every release?
Some of us like to rename the NI VSTs so we know what they are (default, 8 out, 16 out). Forcing a VST reset for every release is a PITA.

was a rhetorical question. I now know better. Although, I would think changing a config parameter is not that complicated but everyone has their own idea of what is complex.
