I am glad SWA took time to prepare it properly before release.

I think SWA is a good company, and I own several of their videos. I never minded the accent. In fact the only complaint I ever had was about the Live 8 tutorial. It definitely felt like a rushed project, and I was never happy with it.
 
If the problems I had with that video have been solved, I'll be happy to buy the Sonar 8.5 video.

The setup makes you install an Adobe player (not the standard Flash player), which seems to call home when run. Part of the piracy protection, no doubt. But, I can't blame Streamworks for protecting their content. They do quality work.

I am disappointed too. I don't mind the player, it works fine here. But, I'd like to be able to skip the intro.

The content is not as deep as I expected either. I have your Sonar 7 video, and it is more detailed and informative than this one for Live 8.

I also think you slipped a little on production values. At one point Analog locks up, and the presenter just acknowledges it and moves on. I think he should have shown how to fix it, or that part should have been edited out.

Also, there is a feedback squeal on much of the demo. It's faint, but any musician is going to hear it, and it is annoying. Those parts of the narrative should have been redone.

I appreciate your work, and earlier procucts, but this one seems rushed, ill-prepared, and not up to professional standards.

I hope you can offer a revised edition to us early buyers."

 
[This is not meant to discredit Chris Hawkins at all, I think he is a decent man with generally excellent products. But I think buyers should hear both the positive and negative about a product.]

Since it's been released, I assume the pre-release price is over.  One of the SWA reps (earlier in this thread I think) says that the $14.99 deal would end whenever the video was released.

How do you resize the video? I have 2 screens and it plays half way across the second one.

Hi Folks,

For all those that ordered the pre-release you should now (finally ) see the links to download the video.  I should point out that this is the PC only version at the moment - in case any of you are looking for a Mac version - this should be ready in a couple of days.

I ask your patience in advanced if downloads may take some time - I am sure there will be a few people trying to download the video at the same time.  We are keeping our eye on the servers to ensure the data is leaving out networks with decent speed.  Unfortunately we cannot control the data flow beyond the network of our data center.

I am thinking that perhaps due to the fact that we missed our initial release target that we would extend an offer to the forums members that perhaps have not yet purchased the video here a promotion coupon code that can be used to receive a discount... what do you guys think?

Well, this version cannot resize on any computer/OS I've tried it on, you cannot grab and resize nor do the 'restore up/down buttons work, only minimize

As for the commentary - the original Scottish drone was bad enough (and I'm Scottish), but now we've got what sounds like a speech generator from 1984 - many of the sentences have the ends clipped and the whole things sounds like about 10 different voices of indeterminate dialect cobbled together with many sentences changing in tempo arbitrarily and some words are completely garbled  - seriously shoddy - unbelievable for an audio application guide, in fact.

A quite hopeless experience, so far :(

Very nicely done with clear narration and at a bargain price,  thumbs up!

I thought the audio was a bit on the quiet side.
I had to really turn my volume up but then I start to hear hiss.

I have to agree with Mickey about the ends of sentences clipped.
But apart from that I thought the content was excellent and great for a beginner like myself.

A good buy.

Yes, the audio has the ends clipped-off in many places, and, the audio level is very low. But I am able to understand it. Overall, it is helpful, but I have to say it is not a very professional production. Worth the $ 14.99 though.
