SWA Complete Sonar 8.5 Release Delay
Hello folks, Just thought I would drop a note to let everybody know that our upcoming SWA Complete Sonar 8.5 video will be delayed. I apologize for this delay however I do not feel this video is ready to be set free just yet. I would like to see everybody get a quality product as apposed to a sub par one. However at this time I do not feel that this video meets those requirements. We could meet our target release date (which is something that of course we always strive to do) however, if we are to release this video in it's current state, the video will appeared rushed and surely result in several unsatisfied viewers – and this is something we would like to avoid. I ask for you patience and understanding – as our top priority is to provide you with a quality product. Thank you, Chris Hawkins Managing Director Streamworks Audio

And please note that I have nothing against the Irish.....I just could not understand the accent in the previous SWA Sonar instructional video. Is this one going to have the same Narrator?

That's a fair enough comment. This video's voice over is actually being done by myself. I am not sure how much of an improvement that will be :) - but you can watch a sample at http://streamworksaudio.com Thanks, Chris

I have the same question about the narrator. The content was excellent but I REALLY had to struggle to understand. I did listen to the short sample and had no problem with it though. Thanks, Rick

OK.....I checked out the preview, and like what I hear! One last question as the preview didn't solve for me.... Is This supplementary to the Previous, as in it only covers new features, or is this a complete re-work?

Chris, I just found your post by another poster who dropped this thread on my post. (See http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1841937) where I respond with my comments. To reiterate, don't rush it out until it's done right - we can wait. I just didn't know what had happened. Perhaps it might be beneficial to explain this on the website since a lot of folks don't know what's going on (just a small, brief informational note). Again, thanks and take the time to get it right, the way you think it should be done. Cheers

Hi guys, Sorry again for all the confusion :-) There were some parts of the video that I found to be a bit rushed through so we are reworking these parts. Thanks for you understanding. We realize that some may be upset by the delay, which is understandable - but in the end I think there would be more complaints if the material was sub par. Hopefully we should have this video ready in a week. Cheers, Chris

Hope you enjoy it. Just for the record though, I have no problem at all with anyone that did have trouble with my accent, but I do agree that Chris's accent is more "neutral" to the international market.

Just want to say that I appreciated your brilliant commentary, Stuart, and I liked the fact that you had an accent I don't often hear. Having the opportunity to hear different accents is "international" to my mind, especially ones that impart such a depth of knowledge. Ben

The new narrator is great! I think you will have many more American sales as a result. This guy is easily understandable. Great work. I'll end up getting this SONAR 8.5 video, as well.

what if i already have a copy of SWA Complete Sonar 8.0, do i really need the new video? wouldn't the User Guide that came with 8.5 cover the new features? So far I'm not convinced from the video preview because that same information can be found on Cakewalk's Sonar 8.5 site but more in depth. For $14.99 for the same video but with a new narrator doesn't seem logical to me.

Great news on the 8.5 release on Monday! While at the site I also picked up SWA Mastering Revealed and SWA Complete Ozone 4. Really great material, well presented, and priced very competitively. Any plans to do a video on the new Izotope Alloy? regards, Rick Tucker

I pre-ordered the 8.5 video too.... but it wasn't because of our fellow Sonar brother's accent. It was because I like to learn new things and keep on top of it. Our Scottish friend did a fine job with the last version. Ted
