My most important wish list is 64 bit and better GUI. I had tried the free sample tank. Works with my X2. Will there be additional sounds in version 3?

 
Yes, there is a whole new library that was recorded and part of the reason for the delay. These legacy libraries will also be compatible with SampleTank 3.

The GUI needs a Major overhaul, I can't see it. Sounds are usable in a mix. Nothing special but worth $40.
 
My beef is that you only have thirty days to download the sounds or you have to pay to re-download them. There is nothing about this, expiration and additional cost, mentioned until After you buy. I can re-download everything in my IK account except these sounds. Why?

"8.2 Is there a time limit on how long I have to download my Virtual Instrument libraries?
 
 
Yes. You have 30 days time to download the sounds from your User Area > My Products > (product name) > Sounds, in your User Area on www.ikmultimedia.com. The time limit begins from the moment you register the included serial number. We do suggest to backup your sounds, as once your 30 days expire, download access can only be regained by purchasing a Sounds Reactivation Credit in the IK Multimedia Store."
 
Since not everybody may read the FAQ before purchase, I'll forward your concern about it not being on other pages of the site.

This is  a hell of a good deal if you don't already have it.
 
The individual samples are a bit under the wire frequency spectrum-wise if you compare to some of the Kontakt and third party libraries.
 
The interface is way like the SampleLord sampler. Clean, efficient, simple. What is missing in Sonar via stacking synths is easily done in Sampletank by layering several samples, setting the volume and pan appropriate.
 
Can use SampleTank alone as one vsti instance and rival anything from any thousand dollar library with thoughtful programming..
 
Old technology, but it is really that good if you dive into it.

Thanks for the kind words John. I personally like it for its low CPU/Ram usage. I still rock a 32 bit DAW as I've never had a project use more than 4gb of ram. Happy as a clam over here! :D

I use a small SSD with the IK sample library on it. Loads SUPER fast. Great for creative sessions.

A quick tip, Tone control. Effect 26 on the master FX slot. Makes it sound more like a modern workstation with the sounds all polished and loud. It is designed to sound like a tube preamp, so everything sounds "Warmer" and bigger with it on.

Sampletank is easier tu use at first glance(compared to Kontakt)
I just dont know what happened with the Combis from sonicsynth, not visible in Sampletank 2.5
